Chizik or Roof's Defense?

Chizik or Roof's Defense?
« on: October 02, 2011, 08:19:28 PM »
It just truly hit me that our offense ran the ball up the middle for the majority of the game.  Dyer had one run called to the outside.  So 40 of our 90 plays were designed to pound the interior.

We still hit the hurry up quite often, and it was almost successful.  I think our opponent's athletic ability on defense is being neglected.

But why run so much up the middle?  Why pound it?

And where the hell did that defense come from?

Eat clock.  Run the ball.  Play it safe on offense.  Good kicking game (not much talk of how stout our punting was).  Strong play on defense.

My God, it was Tuberville's team out there.

I think I'm coming around on the "Chizik has taken over the defense" theory.  And with his takeover, it's changed our entire game plan including offense.

I just got to watch the game - we were traveling yesterday - and I have to say that yesterday was the first time in a LOOOOOOONG time that I saw the former defensive Coordinator Gene Chizik on the sidelines instead of CEO delegator in chief Gene Chizik.  His intensity was awesome, not to mention hot as hell.  He was screaming and yelling and all up in guys' faces, demanding better.  It was awe inspiring.  THAT was the CGC I remembered.  SO fuck Ted Roof.  He better get with the plan and be the figurehead flunkie he was hired to be, or he and Tony Franklin can share a room at the halfway house for shitty ass coaches.

Careful now, this is the way of a man unaffectionately known as Hootie to Razorback fans.

Seeing this topic reminds me, did anyone notice the "discussion" between Chiz and Roof caught on the sidelines during the broadcast?  Can't recall the exact moment but I believe it was near the end of the fourth quarter, maybe even during USC's final drive.  Both were standing face to face and there was a definite "shut the fuck and up and do what I'm telling you" in Chizik's mannerisms.  That answers the question for me.  I was damn glad to see it.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Until the fucking Cock defenders starting pulling NY Giants phantom injuries to slow it down.

Totally agree that SC's defense is being discounted.  They are fucking good.

Two reasons: Clowney and Ingram.  Why run outside and let those guys chase you to the sideline?

You can keep a wooden stake in your trunk
On the off-chance that the fairy tales ain't bunk
And Imma keep a bottle of that funk
To get motel parking lot, balcony crunk.
