Auburn Positives, Week 5
« on: October 02, 2011, 02:28:02 PM »
In no real particular order...

* Special teams had one hiccup yesterday, but overall, the punting especially, was very good.

* The offensive line was ok in pass pro vs a good DL, and also enabled Dyer to grind out 141 yards.

* Dyer is a man.

* McCaleb, again, say what you want, but he averaged 8.2 yards a touch on 11 touches yesterday, and goes largely unnoticed in pass protection, but is VERY good at it.

* Defense.  Ok, young and inexperienced is no longer an excuse.  We saw that we actually have the ability to man up and stuff the one of the best RBs in the league.   We, or I, saw that Chiz got much more involved there, and it worked.  Def. was aggressive, DBs covered well and played the ball.

* All the Chiz dissers (mostly outsiders now)...all the folk that think Malzahn is really the HC...all the folks flapping their gums on talk radio that have no idea what a HC's job is...Chiz is running this team.  It's clear.  It's clear to me he's in charge, he is at the controls, and he's managing his way through a very rough period of growing pains.  There were multiple times yesterday when a team with no real leadership would have faltered and failed.

* We are now 4-1 when many pundits in the pre-season said "I can't find 4 wins on that Auburn Schedule".  We are 1-0 in an October stretch many predicted could see us going 0-4.

*This team has now beaten 2 SEC team that were ranked at the time we beat them, SC was #10, and our only loss was to Clemson, who appears to be for real, and is ranked #8 currently.

* On the whole, this team knows how to win, and is doing better than expected even with adversity.

And honestly, could have won that ball game. Auburn had a really good chance to bury Clemson in the first half and let it get away.

Agree.  I think they underestimated Clemson, and were still trying to bring Trotter along in the passing game, and thought they could get away with it...had Dyer run the ball 25+ times, we'd have had a much better chance.

Yep. Auburn could have ate more clock running the ball then what they did. Too many 3 and outs the second half.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

I don't think even the haters was chocking up Ole Miss as a guaranteed loss like they were the first four. When people talk about our "brutal October", they're talking about SC, Ark, UF, & LSU.

As bad as those games are for us, Florida's October may be worse.

Ole Miss tradionally fucks up at least one team's day per season.

It will be us, Bama or LSU.

Please let it be Bama.

We can only hope, but honestly, I don't think it's possible.  Ole Miss is THAT bad.

They sucked one time and made Tebow cry tears of righteous fury.  His tears were so hot they engraved his words on a wall.

I still say that Houston Nutt is a crazy person and his teams often reflect his personality.

They always have the chance to go off and make some serious "swagger" plays to upset their opponent.

I seriously hope this is not the case this year and it be Auburn on the ass end of it.
