The media has the power to make you something you're not.

I don’t watch game day anymore. I do miss it; I couldn’t get enough information about upcoming games. I don’t remember when it happened, but it did. They went from reporting about games to spewing their own opinions about upcoming games and their loves and wanting to get pregnant by some coaches. What was it about four or five years ago Coach Lou said that this year ND would be the MNC-they went like 3 and 8 lost a bunch of folks and the following year he said the same thing.  No one in the sports media called him on it. Kirks love for all things Ohio State and the big 10 is just bullshit.  I bet he still says they make the mnc.

It’s like they only want certain teams to talk about and when somebody else comes along and kicks in the door and kick ass. They make up shit-don’t really do any investigating-report what the fuck they want. And you know what they can do that. Nothing can be done.

What would have been best for us was to come out this year and pound the shit out of everyone- I don't like the sports media-but it would be nice to have them on our side every now and then.

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.'

I'm not one to give a shit about accomplishments from 50 years ago, but why is the cutoff always 1981?

1892-2011...it's the last 1/4 of the existence of Auburn and Alabama football.  It was a turning point for Auburn as a program in that we started to reclaim an equal footing with bammer that we'd somewhat lost for period of time.  It's an even number.  Bammer had it's day the 25 years before that, but can't understand that day has long sense passed, and Auburn has been equal or better since.  And, it's not like we were nothing before that, but bammer was having quite a run in the 60s and 70s, while Auburn quietly maintained it's top 15 status even in that shadow.

Bama people want to get all bent out of shape and scream "Ya CAINT TAKE UHWAY WHUT THA BAAAAHR DONE!!"

And that's basically what we're conceding.  We know he did what he did.  For most of his 25 years we were in his and Alabama's shadow.  We accept that, we acknowledge it and we deal with it.  We loathe how the drunken bastard accomplished it, but that's not relevant to this discussion.  Fact is we understand that with Bahr at the helm, Alabama was the better football program.

But it wasn't before he got there.

It hasn't been since he left.

That's the point.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

On Billy the Exterminator, they had two whole episodes last night on trapping gators.  That is positively the dumbest, most obnoxious show....that I can't turn off.

Talking to the one semi-rational bama fan I know.  The one able to give credit (and blame) where it's due.  The one not attached to Saban's dick (even though he does get an occasional taste).

This is what he says and what I suspect most loudmouth Tide fans suspect/fear:

If you guys had just a half ass defense, say one capable of holding people to 21 points, it's scary to think where you'd be right now.

You probably win the West or at least finish second in 2009.  We don't win the BCS.  You destroy everybody in 2010 and even with the loss of Cam and Nick you've got a legitimate chance to repeat this year.  Definitely a Top Ten, Top 5 team.

You're sitting at 26-3, 27-2 since Chizik got there.

And then he dives off into bama speak

What's going to happen when Gus leaves and stops propping all that up, though.  You think it's ugly now?  Wait until you're giving up 40 a game and your offense falls off and you're only scoring in the 20s.  You guys could go from 14-0 to 0-14 in two years.

Better hope you find a way to get that defense fixed.  It's what Saban does and why we're Top Five every year.

How he said it may be condescending and assholish, but what he said is correct. Both parts. I fear like hell when Gus leaves. He has bailed us out of a lot of bad situations in games.

If you liked any of what you saw from Clemson Sat., Chad Morris would probably come to Auburn for what Gus is making, and he learned a lot of what he does from Gus.

His mom gives me gas. I fricking can not stand her voice, and her telephone etiquette is substandard. Every conversation she has on that goldanged cell phone irritates me to no end.

I do like to see Billy and Ricky fuck up a wasp nest though.

It's not as bad as it looks.

That's one thing I've learned about Auburn football.

But yeah, it's going to suck when we do put together a few decent games and then get blown out by someone.  Similar to 2009.  Let's be competitive for a while then be down 31-3 to LSU well before the game's over.

Ive always defined the modern era as right at 30 years. Beyond that half of today's fans won't even relate to it. For me, it just happens that 30 years is 1981. Next year, I guess it will be 1982. Maybe a lot of Auburn fans use it because it was the beginning of the Dye era and getting our shit straight. Who knows.

And don't forget - they remind you everytime they go near a wasp nest that Ricky is allergic to them and they must always have the EpiPen nearby.

Ricky looks like he's been through the ringer.

We use U gentle oils. Its great for the enviroment. Wasps hate it but its virtually harmless to humans. Watch Ricky spray em. Those things are mad now.

We lost the 81 Iron Bowl, so if we were just arbitrarily picking a timeline in which we really started turning our shit around, we'd start with 82 regardless.

I think you used the wrong post of mine to respond to. Keep up. Iron Bowl of 81 is so 9 am. We're talking about the rednecks on Billy the Exterminator this hour.

Kidding...

But to your point, 81 is always the year I remember that Auburn got their shit together. I believe we went 5-6 under Dye that first year, but you could tell those guys fought in every game. Dye even told them I think, after the Tenn game, that if they kept fighting the way they were doing, they would win a LOT of ballgames the next year, and the next year and so on. And they did. You could tell things were changing.
