I agree he should get the ball more, but I think this offense is getting fucked over by the defense. 

The offense was doing fairly well until their backs were so pressed against the wall they messed up.  Trotter's still too green to save the day each week.

This is, no shit, Tony Franklin bad.  A change has got to be made.  Look, on a bad day, Malzahn put up 24 points.  I think Tubs and Co was like 90% winning % when scoring 24 or more.  If Malzahn can get a young offense to play, a young Def can at least be a middle of the pack Def.  But 100+ in scoring D in FBS.  Fuck that shit!

Not like you need me to tell you this, but Jesus yes. What kills me is on alot of plays AU has it covered. They have a man in position to bust up the play. He just misses. Saw it about a hundred times today. It seems like the playcalling is half-ass there, it's just these guys can't tackle. Today was the first game AU has played this season that I really saw, but I was also confused by giving receivers a 10 yard cushion. I know you guys were bitching about it the other week, but I thought it was just here and there. It seemed like EVERY play DBs played very very soft. On the last Clemson drive AU finally started with some press coverage.

I still think AU will be at least an 8 win team this season, though. The defense just can't stay this shitty the rest of the year. Sometimes when you have alot of kids who haven't lost before, losing that 1st game puts a bad taste in their mouth and they straighten up. Hopefully that is what happens here.

Every time I turned around the announcers were saying freshman with the catch, sophomore turns it up etc.

If I read the depth chart correctly their offense had eight freshmen and sophomores on it. 

So the "defense is full of sophomores" shit doesn't fly when they are playing AGAINST freshman, does it?  Or does it? 

I'm not mad. I'm not upset.  I'm not depressed.  I'm just meh. 

Defense has sucked ass for three years. 

Played well against LSU last year.  LSU had a shitty offense. 

Played well for a half against Bama (after Bama shit all over itself in the first half and failed to go ahead 42-0, let's be honest).

Played well against Oregon last year.  Put Oregon in the SEC and they're Ole Miss.  Be real.  Oregon last year would have struggled to score against eight of 12 SEC teams. 

We're three years in.  This is what we are.  The worst defense in the history of Auburn football.  We were able to overcome that last year. 

But we shouldn't have to overcome it week after week.   You give this team merely a middle of the pack defense, an average defense, a defense that chokes up 350 yards and 20 points a game and Auburn would win ten games.  With a little luck, we could win them all again. 

But we're not adequate.  We're not average.  And it's not a matter of talent.  I look out there and see big, fast, strong kids.  I see them out of place.  I see them flying by tackles, diving, throwing shoulders and flailing.  I see them turning their shoulders and opening lanes.  I don't see the quarterback getting sacked.  I don't see us causing turnovers.

We let a team that struggled to move the ball against Wofford gash us for 8,454 yards.  We let a Mississippi State team that managed 18 inches in the second half against LSU run for 5,930. 

The bubble burst today.  It's been coming for a while.  It's too late now to fix it.  The things we are doing poorly can't be fixed in a week.  We're talking an entire philosophy change.  And honestly?  Unless there's a Malzahn-esque defensive guru out there that we can pay $1M or more to sign on, you're looking at a two-year project.  I don't know who that guy is.

Offense didn't play too well today but was serviceable. Main problem I saw was not going with what was working. I.e. keeping Dyer out of the game when he was running all over them. What was up with that? Hell, I don't mind losing. I knew we were going to lose a few this year because of the inexperience but this defense isn't even passable for an inexperienced squad.

We can do better than Roof. Hell, even Meyer saw the same things we all see as fans and he's an offensive guy.

I think most have been down on Roof since 09, I know I have. 

Yeah, you can win that many in a row with a shitty D as long as you keep scoring like a madman, but we have all said, that once this O has a bad game or just doesn't click one Saturday, it's going to be bad, and 626 yards is bad.  This loss today was on no one except the D.  We were up two touchdowns, that should have been enough for a middle of the pack D to hold, but since we are the worst D in the nation, we couldn't. 

Missed tackle's have been pissing me off about this team since 09, that is all on the coaches and it starts with the head man, his defensive head man to his assistants.  If we could just tackle, I swear we would be a middle of the pack D and that would outstanding from what I watched today.

If I, little ole AUT1 who never played or coached above a High School level, if I am calling and seeing it before it happens from my couch, then chances are, we aren't going to be successful.
