I used to come home from football practice in HS and crush a half a bag of chewy chips ahoy cookies with a big glass of whole milk. Then eat two helpings of whatever mom had made for supper (being a good southern cook it usually had one thing fried and one thing covered in gravy). I was a 185lb offensive lineman. Now I never snack, never drink anything with sugar, and try to eat smaller portions and weigh 230. What the hell happened?
You are so right, Carl. Another one of my healthy moments....When I was in high school or nights I was home from college, I'd go out on a date or out with the guys..whatever. (Insert ghey joke here) While everyone thought it was cool to stay out as late as possible, come round' 11:00, I was on my way home. Always stop and pick up a couple of packs of Zingers or powdered donuts or some other incredibly healthy snack. As soon as I'd come through the door, my pops was like, "My man...get the milk."
We'd stay up watching the Braves or old movies, gorging out on straight sugar and milk.
