LSU offensive coordinator Steve Kragthorpe has stepped down due to his battle with Parkinson's Disease, LSU coach Les Miles announced Thursday.

He will remain on the staff as the quarterbacks coach.

"I hope for the next eight to 12 years I can still be here coaching the quarterbacks," he said, according to LSUsports.net. "At this point, it is best for me to only coach the quarterbacks."

Greg Studrawa is the new offensive coordinator.

LSU is Sporting News' preseason No. 1 pick for 2011.

I was actually kind of excited to see what he did with Jefferson.

He was the reason I was sold on LSU this year.

Ouch. That sucks for the dude, and sucks for LSU. I wonder if he is going to call plays still? He was a big reason people were high on LSU. If he is truly stepping down, this will have a huge impact....

Is this a time thing? In other words, is he just needing to limit his time at work? If not, I might be missing the point because I don't see a difference in the physical requirements of either position. You can call plays from the booth...no?
