Sheridan better damn well have some evidence and KNOW it to be true if he drops a name. Or, hell yeah, he could be sued.
Funny thing is, he's not talking about there being actual evidence, yet the case is likely to go nowhere?
His bet offer is bogus too. Polygraph vs 5 figures? Pffft. Sheridan is playing the bammers at Finebaum's request.
Well that answers the underlying question.
Sheridan will most likely tell Finebaum in secret. They'll both act like it's not a surprise. But it will never be said on the air. Even when a caller drops the name, Finebaum will say he won't confirm or deny if the caller is correct.
Word will leak out onto message boards, and WoolyAl, TigerDroppings, AUGate, and Tidesports will go crazy about the bagman being revealed. They'll find pictures of the guy. Slander his family. Post pictures from his Facebook.
He'll deny it.
Eventually a few reporters will want interviews with him. And that's how his name will go national.
Thayer Evans or Pete Thamel. Maybe Brooks. Maybe Clay Travis.
Someone will write an article about the possible bagman being revealed.
All as the season starts.
My opinion on the timing:
Auburn has a nearly impossible stretch in October. If the first four games are a flop, AU is in serious trouble.
Cause enough of a distraction, and you might get AU to slip up against Miss State and Clemson.
But then again, I'm going total black helicopters right now.
