are stuck in your mundane, every day boring lives, I will be spending the next week down on the white, sandy beaches of Highway 30A and Destin. Beers with Weskie, a fishing trip out of Grayton Beach, fried grouper po-boys, fries and ice cold Carib at Seagrove Market, jazz band and catch of the day at Red Bar and of course.....coffee at Miss Lucille's.

Sux it beeshes.

I've spent the last 4 weeks having a beer whenever I feel like it, watching whatever sporting event I want, and taking quick 2-3 day trips anywhere I feel like driving. And I've got 5 more weeks of this.

Being a teacher in the summer is rough.

However, I do make up for it with 12-14 hour days while teaching and coaching in the fall and spring.

Bumpity bump. Saw in the Captiva/Sanibel thread where Wes axed for a travel forum. I second the "make it so".

The week off was so good, I'm gonna' do it again week after next. Had a few Fo-Twinneys on draft with Weskie and invited him fishing the next day but somehow, he thought a trip to Biloxi would be better. Pffft....

Caught a snapper the size of a small pick up truck. This guy was right at 30 pounds and I literally thought I was trying to lift a pick up off the ocean floor. I've caught quite a few sailfish that went over 100 lbs. and this thing fought 10X harder and longer than any of them. On a side note, it was kind of a wake up call as we went out and came back in. (This boat puts in right on the beach) Saw a black tip shark jump out of the water in between the beach and the second sand bar. As we came in, a bull shark about 6-7 feet long cruised right by the boat in the crystal clear waters of the the second sand bar.

You know they're there...but it kind of slaps you in the face when you actually see it and see people swimming just yards away. Yeeesh.

Props to Wes also for turning us on to a bad azz restaurant I didn't even know existed. Place called 790 on the front beach road in Destin. Killer food and we ate on the back deck right there at the ocean. Take a little cash with you. Worth it!!

Sharks are teh debils. I asked the Captain if he did any shark fishing trips and he confirmed he does a ton of them. Going back in two weeks and seriously thinking about that one. That's something I've never done and would love to fight one of those bad boyz.

If a snapper kicked your tail, then you might want to start hitting the gym again before you try to tangle with a shark. Seriously though, I would love to go shark fishing.

See, this is what I'm thinking too. It was funny to me how a fish 3 times the size of that snapper would be so much easier to land. It's like the sailfish goes crazy for a about a minute and dances all over the water, but they seem to tire out pretty quick and come to the boat. This sumbeesh last Friday just sat down on the bottom and said, nope....I ain't coming up there. In fact, the Captain took the rod from me for a second, thinking he had gone back into the wreck and was going to try and salvage his tackle. It jerked the hell out of him and he handed it right back saying, whoa, you got a big ass fish on there.

I can't imagine what a shark would pull like...and I'm certainly not going to get the hook out of his mouf. Anyone ever tied into a debil shark?
