Influence Explorer is a nonpartisan, nonprofit website that goes some way toward untangling the webs of influence (and corruption) that make our nation’s capital so terribly dysfunctional.

The site lets you type the names of companies or organizations (AT&T; the Teamsters), lawmakers (Barack Obama; Barbara Lee), and wealthy individuals (Steven Spielberg; George Soros) into its search box and see just how much they have given to, or received from, whom. This is useful and interesting, but not as interesting as the charts that let you trace the power and funds that flow from lobbyists and PACs to our elected representatives. Those are fascinating, and depressing, in equal measure.

I'm a bit confused.

I typed in George Soros, and it says he's at most contributed 5.7 million dollars.  Surely it's more than that.

Not to go all Glen Beck on you.....Look up some of the foundations and stuff that he bankrolls and look who the top recipients are...

Remember this guy has given money to things like MoveOn.org that has donated millions.  I wonder where they got that money?   There are also more than likely a number of "grass roots" groups that have donated 10K here 100K there that he has sponsored that we don't know about.

That's just to candidates.

Like AUT1 said, this guys funds 100's of millions to socialist organizations and think tanks. Moveon.org, Huffington Post, Acorn, Media Matters, Planned Parenthood. You name it.

FWIW - Top DC lobbyists/donors the last 20 years:

Of the top 18 - 15 are democrat, 1 republican, 2 neutral.

Like wench said, the top 10/15 is littered with Unions for the most part. Also in the top 10 are AT&T, ActBlue (#1) and AAJ (formely the Trial Lawyers Association). The AMA is not nearly as high as SOME (Obama) like to make voters think. Unions, thinktanks and lawyer "clubs" are much higher in amount lobbied than the AMA.
