Cliff's:
About 1000 people showed, several hundred turned away.
Chizik signed autographs for 90 minutes, people posed with the trophy.
The trophy was a little like going to a strip club: Don't touch it, don't rub up against it, keep your hands in sight and don't put your hands on the table where it sits.
Some elderly alum were honored including a wise cracking member of the Class of 49 who apparently took him a little Viagra before arriving. At least I think he was making sex jokes about the hostess lady, I couldn't really hear him.
Chizik was presented a proclamation all full of where-ases and wherefores. He also got a key to the city. Some guy presented him with a piece of original artwork. Now granted, I don't understand art (I just know what I like) but this.... dang. To me it looked like a bunch of baboons dipped their big red asses in paint and skidded across a canvas. To each his own.
Chizk finally took the microphone and spoke for about 20 minutes. He didn't really say anything. A lot of cliches, a lot of "how special Auburn is" and a little dab of how young Auburn's going to be next year.
He did stress that no matter the situation, no matter how young, the goals are the same. Championship or bust.
Also addressed the constant attacks. Said essentially he doesn't care. He knows they do things the right way and the rest can go suck it. They can think, write, say or read whatever they want but it doesn't matter. They do it right, will continue to do it right and won't pay any attention to the rest. It's just noise.
Okay.
Got new All Auburn All Orange shirts. That's about it.
