Hoover grade changes.  Prattville grade changes.  Daphne?  You next?

Quote
PRATTVILLE, Alabama -- A former Prattville High School teacher told the Montgomery Advertiser that athletes' grades were changed to keep them eligible.

The newspaper also raised questions about whether several teams have used ineligible players over the past two years after improper transfers.

Former Prattville teacher Susanne Harrison, who now works at an Elmore County school, told the newspaper in a story Monday that she resigned after school officials pressured her to change grades.

Harrison said an investigator with the state attorney general's office questioned her last month regarding a package she sent to the NCAA, the Alabama High School Athletic Association and several colleges. She said it consisted of 14 altered transcripts of football players -- including one with a former player who had transcripts under two names.

She said she began looking in the Prattville computer system in 2003-04 and found that grades were altered to keep players eligible and then restored after they signed to play for colleges.

Harrison said she later printed copies of transcripts she suspected had been changed.

Prattville Principal Lee Hicks said few people have access to transcripts and teachers would have to provide substantial documentation to start a grade change. Hicks and Autauga County Schools Superintendent Greg Faulkner said no one has mentioned such allegations to them, though Harrison said she alerted school officials.
"We're doing the right thing in Autauga County," Faulkner said. "No one has ever brought up issues about grade changes or those kind of problems since I've been superintendent. We don't have special rules for athletes."
Former football star Tim Rawlinson and his uncle and legal guardian at the time, Mike Matthews, said the player had a separate transcript under the name Tim Matthews. Rawlinson said they learned that when grade issues surfaced and left his scholarship with Florida State in jeopardy in 2006.

"I was Tim Rawlinson in some classes and Tim Matthews in others that year," said Rawlinson, who was declared ineligible and went to Pearl River Community College in Mississippi. "I should have said something then but I was just going with the flow."

Matthews said he went to the school but "they couldn't really tell us anything."

The newspaper also said three players who compete in both football and basketball, a baseball player and a former football player participated in games over the past two seasons after questionable transfers.

"These players in question, they've been checked by the AHSAA and they're being checked again," Faulkner said. "Some of these it's the fifth or sixth time (the AHSAA) has checked on them. It's bordering on harassment at this point."

One of those players and his three siblings have listed at least seven addresses to attend six different schools over the last two years, according to documents obtained by the newspaper.

Football and basketball player Jalen Whitlow transferred from Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery to Stanhope Elmore in March 2010, listing an address in Millbrook with his great aunt. He stayed there for a month until head coach Jeff Foshee raised a question about his eligibility when spring practice started.

"He had not made a 'Bona Fide' move," Foshee said. "He was not going to be able to play for us until he made one, and one had not been made when he left us."

The AHSAA generally defines a move as Bona Fide when the primary family members make the move and bring their household furniture. Exceptions can be made in situations involving such extenuating circumstances as the parents' divorce.

Faulkner said school officials have been working with the AHSAA to determine the Whitlows' true residence.
AHSAA Executive Director Steve Savarese said he could not comment on investigations.
He said improper transfers can lead to "very serious penalties."

"This sort of stuff has no place in high school sports and it won't be tolerated," Savarese said.

Hasn't there been a high profile recruit or two from P'ville that went to Alabama in the last couple of years?

Yeah.  And I think a few to Auburn as well.  And one to LSU, right?

She said she began looking in the Prattville computer system in 2003-04 and found that grades were altered to keep players eligible and then restored after they signed to play for colleges.

So the timeline was from 2004-backwards. But I'll go ahead and extend that to 2005 just to be on the safe side.

In 2002 Auburn recruited one player from Prattville and that was Will Ward.
In 2003 Auburn recruited no one from Prattville
In 2004 Auburn recruited no one from Prattville
In 2005 Auburn recruited no one from Prattville.

The only player to my knowledge that could possibly be on Auburn's radar was Will Ward. He carried a 3.8 GPA in high school and 24 SAT. Doubtful he would have needed grades changed.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Will-Ward-3334;_ylt=AiFdKyc093lffIs7NraQXnhDPZB4

In 2002 Alabama recruited Kyle Tatum From Prattville.
In 2003 Alabama recruited no one from Prattville.
In 2004 Alabama recruited Kevin Hamilton from Prattville.
In 2004 Alabama recruited Travis McCall from Prattville.
In 2005 Alabama recruited Bobby Greenwood from Prattville as well as recruiting Travis McCall again.

Kyle Tatum looks fine. He had a 3.8 GPA in high school and a 19 SAT. Doubtful he would have needed grades altered.

Kevin Hamilton not sure on his GPA rivals not reporting on that.
Travis McCall's GPA was 2.4 and ACT18. Now he could have some grades altered(not saying anything just suggesting)
Bobby Greenwood looks good. Solid 3.8 GPA 22 ACT.

So unless she went back farther than 2002 Auburn at least for football doesn't appear to be up to anything amiss.

Someone more knowledgeable than me may know more.

Had Susanne Harrison for AP English. She befriended me on Facebook.

Both Will Ward & Kyle Tatum were a year younger than me. Know them both well. Wil's a bright guy. Kyle - less so, but not a retard. Can't speak for any of the others.

If I were, she wouldn't have been the one I would have picked, despite being one of the younger ones at the time.

Doesn't surprise me at all that she would go out of her way to blow the whistle on this. She was the artsy-intellectual type to vocally oppose athletics.

Auburn hasn't landed anyone from Prattville since Will Ward and he wouldn't have needed any fudging of grades to be eligible.

Alabama though has had about 4-5 from there. 1 of which falls within her timeline and had grade problems for sure. LSU did get one guy from there also but that was last year. He had a solid 3.87 gpa. Doubtful he's one of the 14 she had in mind. Bama recruited Nick Perry from there last year as well but I doubt he was one she named also since she was out of the picture by then.

McCall and Hamilton are the only ones I see for major universities that could possibly be candidates for this list of 14 she handed over to the NCAA. Both recruited to Bama.

She may find herself falling up some stairs somewhere. She better be careful.

Larry Smith. But he easily got into Vandy. From what I heard, pretty smart guy.

And if T. McCall was anything like his daddy, he would have a total rewrite on the transcript. Sweaty was not the hardest worker in the books.

You can't keep strippers in the trunk!  You would have to punch holes in it so they could breathe and that would just ruin the mystic paint job.

That's typical of Bama to be behind the times like that. Poor guys don't realize that mopeds and laptops are what recruits really want.
