I know this is going to be in the NFL, but jeez how often did you see him get tackled for a loss? No gain, maybe, but for a loss? Rare.
Couldn't find it, but it's way more than you think. Rare? PFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTT. He got roly poly'd a lot for a yard or two loss. Or more.
Here's something to consider, too.
All year long he had only seven carries of 20 yards or more. NONE of those came in the second half. Only two came when tied or trailing by seven points or less. Five were first down runs, two were second down. No long third or fourth down runs.
He only had one rush of 10 or more yards on third down all season. One.
His totals this year broke out like this: 1st quarter: 349 yards, 2nd quarter: 238, 3rd Quarter: 199, 4th quarter 89.
I've never been impressed with Ingram at all. Not about to start now. I just don't think he's that good. I think there were half a dozen backs or more as good or better than him in 2009 and if I were drafting he'd be a second day pick.
If I'm ranking the top 50 RBs in the history of the SEC, he's probably not on the list. I haven't thought that far in my head yet, but without trying I can think of a dozen or more that he'd be lucky to carry water for: Bo, Herschel, Emmitt, Fullwood, Musso, Faulk, Billy Cannon, Carnell, Ronnie, Rhett, McFadden, Alexander, Hilliard, Garrison Hearst, the Henry kid at UT, Lewis at UT....
He's just not that good. An average back on a good team. That's all.
