NCAA sent letter to Vols, and here is a breakdown from poster @ VOLCHAT. Would appear Bball team is in serious trouble, while football may just be docked some schollies:Allegation #1 is improper telephone calls (96 total) by all basketball coachesAllegation #2 is heavily readacted charge against 3 basketball coaches...Not clear what charge isAllegation #3 improper visit by Pearl/ Tony Jones to Junior Recruit Jordan Adams on September 14, 2010 at Oak Hill Academy game.Allegation #4 is the most serious and it is against directed at Bruce Pearl. This is where Pearl :"failed to deport himself in accordance with the generally recognized high standards of honesty and sportsmanship normally associated with the conduct and administration of intercollegiate athletics..."He was presented photoHe provided misleading informationHe contacted recruit's father before and after the accusations to remind him that attendance at BBQ was againstrules causing the recruits father to believe Pearl was trying to influence any statement to NCAAAllegation #5-8 are the same BBQ allegations against the 3 assistance coachesThe first 8 allegations are against he basketball program with 5 being related to the BBQ and apparent cover up. Allegation #9 is the biggest against football programFirst, Sixteen improper telephone calls to recruits Second, David Reaves asked UNKNOWNS to make contact with student athletes (Hostess-Gate)Third, Steve Rubio (intern) entered high school on recruiting trip with Kiffin when not certified to do so Allegation #10 is directed solely at Lane Kiffin who:"...failed to promote an atmosphere for compliance within the football program and failed to monitor the activities regarding compliance of several assistant football coaches"The redacted portion seems to specifically indicate failure to monitor David Reaves and Steve Rubio????Allegation #11 (back to basketball and also serious)"....the INSTITUTION failed to monitor the men's basketball coaching staff's telephone contact with prospective student-athletes and their relatives....."Allegation #12 is heavily redacted and is about a secondary violation by assistant basketball coach Jason Shay. No idea what this allegation is but since redacted, it likely involves a current or former student at UT.
So, we have Basketball, Baseball and Fooseball all getting hit with something. Will that lead the NCAA to declare a lack on institutional control?
Only if the REC wants them to.
