Can I give you some advice? Don't get so damn caught up in the one or two that don't agree with you. There are several here that do. Maybe not to the extent...but in theory we do. However, when you continue to spend your time arguing with the few that don't agree, nothing will ever get done.
Thoughts well taken.
What pisses me off is that the moment those few realized that their stance was unpopular their efforts immediately turned to attacking me (and Prowler) personally. It stopped being about what we were trying to accomplish and became a referendum on US.
I'm done discussing it with them. They can stand in the corner. If it's a success, I'm sure they will join in. And they'll be welcomed when that happens. If not? I'm sure they'll be glad to point that out.
I will do what I can from a technical standpoint. I can commit some employees and time to development and creation. Because of some of the personal animosity that I seem to create (oddly not in the real world, but whatever) I truly feel it would be best if someone else assumed the role of "leading" it.
The thing that would be most beneficial would be to develop a mission statement and then have the people here who are on board and also members of other boards to fan out and spread the word. See what kind of reaction there is in the wider world. Also get some students involved. See what the reaction would be on campus. From what I can tell after talking to a few students and getting reactions back from a few dozen they talked to? Students would be on board.
If there's interest, we need to step away from this board to set it up, determine what elements it will contain and then establish a plan to create it.
We've got lawyers to do the LLC paperwork. We've got accountants to handle the non-profit issues. We've got web designers and DBAs and graphic artists to do the creation. We've got financial resources. We have all the tools we need.
