Does the United States Have The Will To Deal With An All Arab Middle East?

With what is going on in Tunisia, Egypt, iran, Iraq, Jordan, Afghanistan, Europe, and Russia, do we as lazy, entitled Americans have the will to deal with what is most probably coming?

Do most of us in America even care enough?

Most reports seem to think the Egyptian military is strong enough to keep them secular. I doubt that is true for Jordan or Tunisia. I am just praying that the CIA dudes are up to their neckrolls in this and have a plan. But I doubt that to be true...

The Muslim Brotherhood will take over with supposed democratic designs on Egypt (you can take that to the bank). They will also turn Egypt into Iran 2 within 1 year (you can take that to the bank as well).

The question is will we have the will to deal with it?

Ask yourself this, would we have the stomach to fight WWII now? Fuck no, we wouldn't.

D-Day? The fucking chairman of the joint chiefs would have to resign his position for that "debacle."

The war in the Pacific? Please. In the past 20 years, our government has actually debated about if we need the Marine Corps or not.

If a war isn't over in 2 weeks, the American public would say it's unnecessary. But for a war to be over in two weeks, you have to let the military do what they are trained to do. Kill people and break things.

When the shit goes down, I only hope whomever is bringing it has the capabilities to attack the continental US and kill a bunch of people. I know that sounds harsh and I certainly don't wish death upon any Americans, but that's the only way our leaders will be able to make the decisions that will be necessary to preserve our country.

Even then, I'm not sure they would.

Agree with you. I have talked to several Vietnam Vets and if you can get them to talk you will find that what most of them can't believe is just that, they couldn't do their jobs. It really frustrated them then and it still frustrates them to this day. My dad and some of his old buddies from the big red 1 got together and I turned the video camera on and walked away, they talked for a couple of hours about some action, which was rare. At the end one of them mentioned, "it was all for fucking nothing, we just let them have it back. If they would have just let us went in and kicked ass, we would have been out of there in less than a month!" He was pissed by the end of the talk. Thank god for cold beer and good bourbon to ease the tension.

You don't even need to go back that far. Look at war in Iraq. We're more concerned with peacekeeping as a nation. I don't remember when I learned "peacekeeping" in the Marines. Must have been on the one day I was a sick bay commando. The other days, I was screaming at the top of my lungs how my platoon was full of "camel jockey killing machines."

My honest thoughts? If as a govt we aren't prepared to let the US Military do it's job, then we don't need to be there. If you want us to be peacekeepers, pull out, and let the UN go in.

And I think Token is 100% right, it's going to take a nuke or other weapon of mass destruction going off, with millions dead, for the US to ever get it's head out of it's ass.

My old man is a Nam Vet. Was over there in several different locations from Late 68- Early 71. I also met Hal Moore(We Were Soldiers) in DC a couple of years back on Veterans Day at a ceremony at the Wall.... I asked him about this as well. The general thought from talking to my pop, a couple of other Vets and General Moore, was that between 1965-Dec 1967, it was going great. The Tet Offensive happened in 68 and the war 'got' extremely political. Even in 1965 during the Ia Drang Battle from the movie (WWS), just as the battle was getting hot and Hal was starting to turn the tide towards our side, the politicians at the Pentagon ordered him evacuated out of LZ X-Ray. Right in the middle of a battle. A bloody fucking battle at that. Made no sense - unless you wanted to lose a war.

Oullette: Colonel, it's brigade headquarters. They want you out.

Moore: Well, we can't get out!

O: Not all of us. Just you. Saigon wants to debrief you.

M: That doesn't make any sense!

O: Colonel, brigade headquarters wants you lifted out on the first chopper at dawn.

M: Now, what idiot would keep ordering that in the middle of a damn battle?

O: General Westmoreland wants a briefing.

M: Give me that. (grabbing radio) I am in a fight, and I object to this order to return to Saigon. Now, I will not leave my men. Is that clear? Out.

Last line from Moore made it move. A REAL Field General.
