The writers said that they were going to almost make the prison setting itself another character, with it being so dark and foreboding, yet offering a (false?) sense of sanctuary. And it worked - that were probably some of the most tense and truly scary scenes yet up and down the halls in the dark.

Michone is a bad ass.

Finally got to watch it online yesterday afternoon. Fuck Dish Network in da mouf! ($1 to sani)

That was exactly what I had hoped the season premiere would be. Lots of action and suspense with a few different story lines that could each go in one of 3 or 4 directions for the balance of the season.

I did get a chortle or three out of the walkers in full riot gear.

So, two episodes into the new season. I'm pretty happy with it so far. Lots of guts and gore, lots of tension, Lori is being detached from relevance so she will be easier to kill, Carl is an unstable psycho in the making, Rick is officially a hard core BAMF that you do NOT fuck with, Daryl continues to be awesome and a BAMF in his own redneck Deliverance kind of way...

Anyone still got shit to complain about? (duh... )

I thought episode 2 had a few features that were all time worst for this show. And I love this show. And I loved episode 2.

But the worthless scene of Maggie crying and telling Hershel goodbye for five minutes? And then he didn't die? Lame.

Then, the whole premise that five convicts could reside together in a cafeteria for ten months and still look and act like normal convicts. Sorry, especially considering how psycho long-haired dude was, that whole group wasn't unbelievable. If I was penned up in a jailcell for ten months with no outside interaction, I'm showing some signs of lunacy. I'm probably pissing off the other four guys until one of them (who is also looney) tries to kill me. Especially if I was already unstable enough to be in a federal prison. What were they doing for ten months? Playing "I Spy"? Charades? Drop the soap?

I'm also realizing that my worst fears about this show are true. The seasons are much more enjoyable as two six hour movies as opposed to one 45 minute episode per week.

I do think the plot could benefit from them travelling more. Season 2 was locked up on a farm. Now they're locked up in a prison. Unfortunately, we know they'll be in the prison at least one more episode because Lori will have the baby there. Then the previews have given away The Governor and his compound as the next location. And I'm sure they'll be there for most of season 3.

This is post-apocalyptic USA. Let's see a little bit of what's going on outside of Atlanta.

1. That was a State Prison.

2. They did not realize that the world had ended. Therefore, fear/repercussions may have kept them in line.

3. It's a zombie apocalypse show, not Shakespeare, just enjoy it.

So we finally got AMC back on Dish as of Sunday night just in time for me to watch episode two (I have not seen episode one at this point). I am finding that I didn't miss the show or AMC but my best to you if you like it. Episode two seemed like more of the same soap-opera, melodrama that I complained about in season two. It did not leave me wanting to see more. With respects; I've moved-on.

In re: the Maggie - Herschel scene". The DVR is your friend. I skipped it once I caught on to what the deal was.

And COME ON. The machete to the head was pretty fucking hard core. So was locking the outer door. Rick has crossed into a dark place, and I want to see how he reacts and adjusts to what for him as person is uncharted territory.

The helicopter is going to give us a look into outside ATL. It had to have come from somewhere.

And Merle coming back is going to be AWESOME.

The machete in the head was, indeed, hardcore, I did rewind that one...actually, maybe I'll watch a few more episodes after all...I'd forgotten about the helicopter since it's been what seems like a Lifetime ago (pun intended).

Holy shit, he is creepy as hell. Even old Merle is scared of him.

Also like about half of the turd nation, which is kind of the same thing.

The showdown between him and Daryl will be awesome. I think all those flashbacks Daryl had when he got hurt that time - where Merle is mocking him, and calling him a pussy - those will play a part in Daryl's choice that he will have to make eventually.

I must say that Governor character absolutely disturbs the hell out of me not even knowing his back-story and the fate of those Nat. Guardsmen (especially the chopper pilot) has really disturbed my calm this week as much as that creepy little town of Woodbury...I'm with Michone ( ?...not sure of the names) who wants to get the hell out of there...show might've won me back this time...we'll see...
