Kennedy's exit from Congress leaves a family void

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Kennedys have held congressional seats, the presidency and the public's imagination for more than 60 years.

That era ends when Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island vacates his U.S. House seat next month, leaving a City Council post in California as Camelot's sole remaining political holding.

The son of the late Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy says he has no qualms about walking away from politics. His departure marks the first time in 63 years that a Kennedy won't be serving in elected office in Washington.

The 43-year-old Kennedy says in his family, "the legacy was always public service, and that didn't necessarily mean public office."

Kennedy plans to continue the tradition by championing a national effort to boost brain research.

John and Robert would weep at how the Kennedys of the last 3 decades have disgraced their name.

Had those two lived in the days of the innerwebs and 24 hour news, they too would have just been another Kennedy.  With the whoring and JFK's disease and the Mafia ties, and his dad's past, and the Bay of Pigs and the whole Marilyn Monroe thing, they would have never made it.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Fuck'em all.

True....I didn't agree with their policies or even their personal lives, but jfk was one of the last patriots in Washington. I'm talking truly thinking of the citizen and not just being hell bent on implementing wealth distribution and socialism like teddy and the current dems.
