TCU To Join The Big East

Good for them. Geographically makes no sense, but take note Boise: This is what you do if you want to garner any iota of respect.

I applaud TCU for this.

I think I heard a statement by the Big East Commish that noted the Dallas Cowboys are in the NFC East.   When I was a youngun, and like Baseball, the Braves were in the NL West with the Dodgers, Giants and such.

The Cowboy analogy may be more correct than you even know.  When the Cowboys first came into league their president/general manager Tex Shramm bribed whoever he had to to get into that league because at that time he knew the Cowboys were gonna get some instant credibility just due to who else was in that division.
At that point the division was made up of Philadelphia, New YorK, St Louis, and Washington. By far the most televised and media covered division.  Now the Big East is not that but what I am getting at is the downside to travel will be far outweighed by the publicity and good of joining that league.

It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

You guys are acting like the Big East is a real league.

As far as travel goes, how would you feel if we joined the Pac (insert number) ? It would suck.

This smacks of desperation. But I don't entirely blame the school as this is their only chance at removing the non AQ stench from their name. And it's not like the administration really cares what league they are in. I think this will be their forth or fifth conference since the SWC broke up.

It will kill recruiting . The irony is that by the time they get into the new conference, they will no linger be able to win it.

My point is joining any league is better than where they are at right now and with the Big East still having an automatic bid it is definitely a step in the right direction.

Aim your point in another direction.

The non AQ groundswell has grown to the point that the BCS might tweak the system to make it easier for the TCU's of the world to get into the big games. But, maybe not.

I just think they are whoring themselves out. It seems like it would be easier to just schedule some harder teams instead of forcing their teams to travel across the country for half of their games.  - They aren't just moving in football, they are moving all sports.

When the football Frogs cycle back down to reality, they will be at the midpoint of the bottomfeeder conference. Short term thinking.

It can't be anything but a plus for recruiting in my opinion.  The Big East may be going through a suckage phase right now but that won't last forever.  If you can tell a kid they'll be playing in front of 60,000 in Pittsburgh or Louisville and on TV as opposed to 18,142 in New Mexico or Utah State or whoever else is in that conference, it's far more attractive.  Scheduling better OOC teams is one idea but your schedule is still going to be made up of 70-80% shitty conference teams that kill your SOS.

This is the only choice TCU had. They want to be a part of a big conference and the Big East was the only option. I bet they try to get in the Big East for a couple of years, show they belong, and then talk to the Big 12 whenever they start adding more schools...because it will happen. The loss of revenue for them next year without a football championship game alone will hurt...

Kinda what I was thinking.  Plus add to it, you are TCU, if you are able to get decent players NOW in a state as competitive with recruiting as Texas.  I don't really see how this would hurt recruiting.

That's crap.  The Cowboys have to travel east 3 games a year.  TCU will have to travel to away games, for ALL 20 varsity sports that will be joining the Big East.  I see TCU dropping a few programs that won't be able to cut the mustard budget wise.  Good for them in getting the AQ status for football, sux for the kids on scholarship for the non money making sports.

TCU has money. It is a private school that is expensive as hell.

Question..because I don't want to go back and read it.  Is it just a football move or all sports.  I ask because don't some teams do this like Notre Dame in the Big East in basketball only?  Might can do that just because they're an independent.
