Newton A "Victim," Sources Say

Cameron Newton  By Mark Murphy
Inside the Auburn Tigers
Posted Nov 5, 2010

Sources tell Inside the Auburn Tigers that Auburn University has no evidence of any wrongdoing by Cam Newton or anybody associated with Auburn.

Auburn, Ala.--Sources very close to the Auburn University Athletic Department have told Inside the Auburn Tigers that Auburn has “no evidence whatsoever” of any wrongdoing by any member of the athletic department or by Cameron Newton in the wake of media reports on Thursday that an investigation is being conducted into Newton’s recruitment.

According to reports, agent Kenny Rogers, a former football player at Mississippi State, is being investigated for trying to solicit money from Mississippi State in exchange for having Newton sign with the Bulldogs out of Blinn Junior College in Texas. Cecil Newton, the quarterback’s father, denied that was the case or that there were any improprieties in the recruiting of his son who committed to Auburn last New Year’s Eve, choosing the Tigers over Mississippi State and Oklahoma.

“There is no evidence whatsoever of any contact between Mr. Rogers and anyone on the staff at Auburn University or anyone associated with Auburn University,” the source said.

“There have also been no NCAA allegations made against Auburn University or anybody on the Auburn staff regarding the recruitment of Cam Newton,” the source said.

“This is a really sad and disgusting situation,” the source added. “Cameron Newton and his family have become the victim of a rogue agent with a questionable past and of other people who are out to hurt Cam Newton and his family.”

Auburn officials have had little to say about the matter for the record other than Coach Gene Chizik’s comment that Newton remains eligible to play football at Auburn.

“Concentrate on that comment about Cam Newton being eligible to play at Auburn,” the source said. “That comment is short, but it says a lot. Auburn’s NCAA compliance director (Rich McGlynn) has a reputation for being extremely competent and tough in his position. He believes strongly in following NCAA rules to the letter. If there was any doubt whatsoever about Cam Newton’s status you can be assured that he would have not been on the football field playing for the Tigers this year.”

Commenting on why Auburn is not publicly defending the quarterback and speaking out on the matter, the source said, “In a situation like this the NCAA rules do not allow the university to comment. It is unfortunate that is the case now because members of the Auburn staff believe that Cam did nothing wrong and he is a terrific young man. They really want to speak up in his defense, but their hands are tied at this time.”

You had, at times, become somewhat rational in your posts, and less bammerish, then as the season wore on, and Auburn won, and won, and won, you left.  Showing up yesterday, and with this kind of bullshit...you're asking for treatment that would make it look like we laid out the red carpet for Birmingham.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

I haven't been on in like a week due to more important shit in real life. And I won't be on next week due to surgery. I will send you a doctor's excuse from me posting on here if you want. It has nothing to do with AU doing well, but since you're all pissed off at the world right now, I can see why you're going there. I don't see how my posts in the previous few weeks about how well AU is doing, how I was wrong on Newton, etc, are being irrational or "bammerish". But whatever. Hell, 10 days ago I was putting forth an argument as to why AU should be #1 in the BCS rankings over a few other programs.

My point was Saban was called an asshole and things because of his comments on these rogue agents, and it was all fun and games when it was about Alabama. Now one of those agents is trying to give Cam a bad image, and all of a sudden, this agent is a total bastard. Like Token said in another thread, I don't buy any of this bullshit either, but all of the tinfoil hat wearing AU fans who had a field day with other rumors or situations concerning Alabama are getting a little dose of their own medicine.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Hysterectomy?
:bugs:

They're just now getting around to figuring out why my knee has been hurting like a motherfucker the past 6 months and have finally found out I tore my meniscus. I might come on here hyped up on Percocets next week, just to make JR happy. I will probably make less sense than normal though, which is scary in itself.

I know. Or working on the sausage festival! It's tough getting my ass out of this chair to take a piss or to go get food, though. At least I can tell my kids 20 years from now "it's an old dispatching injury".

Surely even you can tell the difference in these two situations.

Marcell Darius was beyond a doubt, and by his own admission, involved with an agent. He attended the parties in South Florida for star college football players held by an NFL agent. Marcell should have known better. I stand by that today. Saban absolved Dareus of all blame while in the same breath expressing his disgust with those "pimps".

What has Auburn fans livid right now is that everyone that is not completely delusional can see that Newton and Auburn were not involved in this. Auburn knew about this back in July and looked into it. Cecil Newton cooperated completely by turning in financial statements. Auburn and the NCAA knew all of this and played him anyway, and will play him on Saturday. Because some shithead claims that he made dealings WITH MSU on Cam's behalf, when all evidence points to Cam and his family having no knowledge, and certainly having received no payment for it, Cam and the Auburn family is being dragged through the mud.

You wouldn't see this rage from Auburn fans if in the back of our minds we thought Cam really did break an NCAA rule. What has us enraged is that these non-stories have gained national attention as if they have any validity whatsoever, when clearly they don't.
