Yep, even that TD he gave up the other day was really a spectacular play on OM's part...he had it covered, and even got his hand on the ball...Masoli and the WR simply made a play...He is playing much better.

It was obvious they were going to try and pick on Thorpe early, and they did it. However, I thought he stepped up and made some nice open field tackles as well and they stopped.

Our defense as a whole has been playing a lot better since the Arkansas game. The first TD was a missed tackle by Evans (I think) and the second TD was just a damn nice play. 2 in a row to pick up the first down and then the TD. Other than that, they didn't get shit except for a couple of late bullshit TD's.

I like the way our team is playing together. Our defense isn't great, but they compliment the offense well and we do have some play makers on that side of the ball.

They're still not playing the deep stuff all that well, but they've improved containing the short stuff and keeping it to short gains instead of letting a screen pass go for 12-15 yards anymore.   I'm cautious in this assessment, but feel that maybe Roof might be making the best of a bad secondary rather then having under performing talent.  What do you think?

Demond has stepped up so I think they are putting Demond opposite of Fairley because the QB is not going to have the time to throw unless they roll away from him. My biggest fear right now is a team that is really quick and gets the ball out of the QB's hands fast. That's Oregon. Oregon would score a lot of points on us; however, I think Fairley could blow some shit up inside as well. Also, a quick RB that can get to the outside like Lemichael James scares me to.

Agree.  I don't think USCw is an untalented Defense, and Lane's diddy aint too shabby at scheming.  I'm thinking you're right on Oregon, though they haven't faced a really solid, TOUGH fucking defense, I don't think for a minute their numbers are completely driven by facing cupcakes.

Oregon will be a huge test for us when we play 'em. They are scary good on the offense. I do think that there is only one team in CFB that is a test for Oregon, and that is Auburn. Both have dynamic offenses but personally I give the edge to Auburn. Oregon may have us in D, but I just really have a problem with giving them the edge in that category. When I look at Oregon, I see a fast fast team but they look like they're missing out on the meat and potatoes. Little shits. I mean, how fast is someone gonna be after they get hammered several times. Our D might not be lights out but I guarantee they can lay the fucking wood to somebody.

Old man Kiffen's defenses generally struggle against spread offenses. Look at Auburn & Florida vs UT last season. We ran them ragged. Against a more "traditional" offense, the hillbillies stood their ground.
