Florida Players Tell Prospect They’re Unhappy In Gainesville
October 18th, 2010 â•‘ Posted By: Josh Ward â•‘
Florida didn’t make its best sales pitch to Vincent Dallas when he took his official visit to Gainesville on Oct. 9.

The athlete from Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Ga., committed to Tennessee over Florida on Friday.

It appears Dallas’ trip to Florida helped solidify UT as his top school. Dallas said he asked several of the younger Florida players if they were happy with their decision to attend Florida. The reports weren’t positive.

“They were just saying they aren’t happy and they don’t think Florida is the right place for them,” Dallas said.

Dallas took two unofficial trips to UT during the summer but hasn’t visited officially. He plans to do so in December.

Dallas said he didn’t need to visit UT again to decide he preferred the Vols over Florida.

“I had a good time down in Florida, but I couldn’t really enjoy myself,” he said. “All I could think about was Tennessee.”

I would imagine this isn't the best time to be bringing top recruits in for a visit.  I've certainly never been on that end of it and don't know what all a recruit goes through on an official visit.  Do they just tour the facilities and get fed well, or do they hook em' up with a couple of hot co-eds?  Townhall, wasn't that part of your gig at AU?  Please to be shedding the light.

But, if you visit while a traditional (Recent tradition) national power is hitting the skids for the first time in a while, I wouldn't think the overall atmosphere would be real positive.  If you suck, like UK or MSU, you can sell playing time and instant big man on campus stature.  If you're looking at the big time program and being in the national limelight...and said program looks like a sinking ship with a bunch of rats jumping overboard, you might not get a warm fuzzy on your visit.  Just sayin'.

Well I would be willing to bet that Urban, any coach for that matter, would be thinking his players are talking down their own program.

FWIW, a gaytor friend claims that the UT commit started this rumor and that there is no truth to it whatsoever.

He has no source.

Also, if this were a Lame Kitten croot, my first thought would have been to blame him for starting it...but I don't see Dooley engaging in such shenanigans.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Urban should have bailed last year after Tebow left and he had the medical excuse.  He could have kept his reputation in tact and found another team in a few years when his health magically got better.

He will never have another Tebow at UF and will probably struggle because of it.  Florida's offense was built so tightly around Tebow that they have not been able to recruit a traditional offense to replace him.

Yep, Urban sucked until Tebow came along.  He got lucky as a motherfucker...dude can't coach a lick.

Of course the guy can coach.

However, it's pretty obvious that he built the UF team around Tebow with no regard for the future.

You know that your successor QB is a pocket passer, and not the FB/RB of your team like Tebow...so why don't you recruit any real RBs?

The UF roster is lousy with small, fast guys, but they lack an every-down back.

This is biting Urbs squarely in the ass.

I think Urban had designs to pass the ball more, and I thought he'd be more successful in the transition.  Why it hasn't worked out, don't know.  They were able to run the ball with other small guys in the past few years.  But on the whole, I agree, he doesn't have what he needs.  Clearly my post was smartassed...but the suggestion that Urban should have quit when Tebow left is ludicrous.  If for health reasons sure...but because he'll never have another one like him?  He had one...his name is Cam Newton.  Sometimes shit don't go as planned in the coaching biz.  You go with what you have.

Right...because they had a big, bruising, every-down back.  His name was Timothy.

I agree with the rest of your post, though.
