LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Senior kicker Wes Byrum's game-winning field goal didn't just send Auburn to a 37-34 win over Kentucky, it also moved him past John Vaughn for the school career field goal record.


Byrum's 51st career field goal came from 24 yards out and was his third of the game.

"There's always a little extra emphasis on field goals when they can end the game like that, but it was a short field goal and it was right in the middle," Byrum said. "Kicks like that should be routine and we should knock those through."

Byrum's night got off to a poor start when he booted his opening kickoff to just the Kentucky 15 and was returned to the Auburn 49. The poor effort would be Byrum's only kickoff of the night as coach Gene Chizik replaced him with freshman Cody Parkey.
