NCAA Probes Party with 2009 Heisman Winner
49 minutes ago by TMZ Staff

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TMZ has learned the NCAA wants to talk to Alabama's Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram about a lavish party he attended in Washington, DC -- and whether any NCAA rules were broken.

A source with knowledge of the inquiry says Ingram attended the party on May 12th at District nightclub. Ingram was photographed (left) at the celebration for college stars who had just been drafted by NFL teams -- -- including Florida's Joe Haden (center).

Ingram is a returning junior this year and we're told the NCAA wants to know if agents paid for anything involved with his DC trip -- which could be a violation of NCAA rules.

The University of Alabama says Ingram is on the up and up. The Compliance Department tells us, "Mark asked if he could visit Joe Haden at his home in Baltimore. We checked with the NCAA and they approved this trip as long as Mark provided receipts for his expenses."

It's unclear whether those receipts were submitted, but clearly the NCAA has unanswered questions.

Ingram, by the way, was a total badass last season -- leading the Crimson Tide to the National Championship and winning the Heisman.

   May be nothing.  May be something.  You never know.

I liken all this to a lesson I learned in the military during inspections.  If you give the inspecting officer nothing to look at, you'll get a glance more than likely and they'll move on.   You give them anything?  Anything at all?  The white gloves are going on and all your drawers are getting opened.

Lots of places are putting on their gloves right now.  Bammer better hope their undies are folded proper or who knows what the NCAA is going to end up running into along the way.

Fair enough. It doesn't appear that it was a big secret or anything, since it was ran through the NCAA first. It sounds like a follow up more than anything.

Yes.  Must be.  Mhmm.   Of course, it doesn't sound like it's little Judy in accounting out of Indy asking a question about the tip on a receipt to me, but uh, if you want to go the "follow up" route, cool.  It's cool.

Can't be. RWS was positive that this was limited to only Dareus. He made fun of Chopper and Prowler for such wishful thinking...

The thing with Ingram is something totally separate. I made fun of Prowler because he posted something from Twitter that was posted in March that he apparently thought was pretty good evidence that Julio was with Dareus. Except the Dareus thing happened around Memorial Day.

Well, maybe Julio, but nobody else.

I'm not sure what Prowler posted, but I know the tweet from OchoCinco has been talked about because it verifies that Julio Jones and Chad OchoCinco were at the same party at some point in Miami.   What does that mean?  I have no idea.

Ocho Cinco's tweet about seeing Julio was posted in March. In fact, some news agency asked Julio about what he thought of Ocho Cinco's compliment after the A-Day game. Nothing was mentioned by Ocho Cinco about a party.

The deal with Dareus happened in late May. You guys are trying to say Julio and others were with Dareus. In late May. And then you are saying Ocho Cinco's tweet is proof that Julio was there with Dareus. For somebody who rants about me not being able to read a calendar, you really aren't catching on.

March does not equal May. Or am I just manipulating again?

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WIAT) - On March 17th Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco was impressed. Not just with the Miami nightlife as he was putting his down time to good use, but also with a certain college wide receiver. Alabama's Julio Jones.

I'm sure this meant that he just caught Julio checking into his Miami hotel to go to sleep, while Ocho was getting ready to hit the town.

The bolded part shows where you lie.  Here, you've lumped me and Prowler together, when I even said (since you love to point out what I post) "I'm not sure what Prowler posted".  I never said anything about Ocho, or Julio being at the same party as Dareus.   So, all your other little snips were total whifs.

Still waiting to see where Ocho Cinco said anything about seeing him at a party. You keep mentioning them being at a party together, however, you and Prowler are the only ones mentioning those two at a party together. It verifies that at some point in time the two were in Miami at the same time, sure. I've seen Julio Jones in Foley. I guess that means we were partying.

A University of Alabama athletics spokesman has denied a report today by TMZ saying the NCAA wants to speak with Crimson Tide tailback Mark Ingram about attending a May 12 party in Washington, D.C., involving recent NFL draft picks like Florida standout Joe Haden.

UA's response, through a spokesman, is that the NCAA cleared the trip in advance and is not investigating Ingram's involvement now.

The TMZ report, which cites "A source with knowledge of the inquiry," says Ingram checked with UA's compliance office about visiting Haden in the Baltimore area. The school reportedly cleared the trip so long as Ingram provided receipts for expenses, though TMZ states "It's unclear whether those receipts were submitted."

Ingram submitted those receipts, according to UA spokesman Doug Walker.

"Mark provided all the appropriate documentation," Walker said, "and we are not aware of any issues with the visit."

I would think that if UA were flagrantly lying about this, the NCAA would take notice. This seems pretty definitive.

And it still doesn't say they were at a party together. As far as you know, he saw him on the street. Hell, even if they were at a night club or party, it was in March. It doesn't really mean anything. According to Prowler, the significance was to prove that Julio was in fact with Dareus at this agent's party that the NCAA is currently investigating. Or, in his words, the "roof could be blown off this mutha fucka".

This certainly makes it sound as if they were enjoying the same scene.  Call it what you want.  I don't think they drove together, or split limo fare....

Ingram trip cleared by NCAA

TUSCALOOSA | Hesiman Trophy winner Mark Ingram got NCAA approval to make a trip to the Washington, D.C., area in May to visit former Florida player Joe Haden and is not under investigation by the NCAA over the matter, a University of Alabama athletics department spokesman said Thursday.

Celebrity news web site TMZ.com is reporting that Ingram attended a May 12 party at District nightclub in Washington, D.C., and that the NCAA wants to talk to Ingram about the trip. The party was for players who had recently been drafted by the National Football League, according to the report.

“This was vetted before it happened,” UA spokesman Doug Walker said.

Ingram approached the UA compliance office before making the trip, and UA got clearance from the NCAA, which said the trip was permissible as long as Ingram provided receipts showing he paid his own way. Ingram presented the receipts to the UA compliance office upon his return.

“Mark provided appropriate documentation,” Walker said. “We're not aware of any issues with this.”

The TMZ report comes on he heels of news that UA, in conjunction with the NCAA, is probing a similar issue with Marcell Dareus, a first-team Preseason All-Southeastern Conference defensive lineman, over his trip to a party held by an agent this summer in Miami.

Ingram set a single-season Alabama rushing record last season, running for 1,542 yards -- with a 6.2-yard average per carry -- and scoring 18 touchdowns to become Alabama's first-ever Heisman Trophy winner in the closest vote in the 75-year history of the award.

"According to Prowler...."

Let's connect the Dots shall we.....

March 17th - Chad 8 5 goes to a club or a party in MIAMI and "runs into" Jucio....

May 12th - Mark Ingram, along with A LOT of college stars that had been just been drafted by the NFL, was spotted at a "Lavish Party" in Washington DC, I'm sure Ingram paid for everything....

May 30th - Marcel Dareus, along with A LOT of future NFL high draft choices attended another party in MIAMI...Hmmm, another SPuat player was caught partying and in Miami no less.

Anyone else noticing a fuckin' trend here?  Round Trip plane tickets aren't cheap and neither is driving.  Hotels for a few nights aren't free and neither is the alcohol/Purple Drank nor the food.  I'm also sure that the players all went by themselves...no other player went with any one of them.

But, I guess since your team just won the National Championship.  Well then, you're free to do whatever the hell you want to do....I'm sure the parents paid for all of the expenses, or should I say "Friend of the family".

Ingram's trip was cleared with the NCAA before he even went. Yeah, way for Alabama to cover it up. Letting the NCAA know about it BEFORE IT EVEN HAPPENS.

Supposedly the reason there were so many guys down there from so many teams is because of Urban Beach Week 2010. It wasn't just that everybody came down there for one party one night. I think that will come out when all of this is done and over with. Whether multiple Alabama players were at Urban Beach Week or not, I don't know. That's something separate from this party, so it really wouldn't matter. The only thing that matters is who attended the actual party thrown by the agent.
