Tubs' record on paper and his accomplishments also didnt appear to warrant replacing him, but as you know JR, its the last 1-2 years people go by - and UGA has been average lately. Especially with the talent they have. The off field distractions dont help.
There's a big difference in Richt's "average" at 18-8 (10-6 SEC) the last 2 years vs. Tub's total implosion his last 2 seasons, which was also accompanied by a slew of player/recruit attrition which didn't bode well for the future. And like I said, if this season turns out for Richt to be similar to Tub's final campaign, then he could get canned. Another 8 win season won't get him fired, off field distractions or not, and I'm betting he doesn't have a complete meltdown season. On their schedule they have SC, Ark, Florida, Auburn, and Ga Tech that are
realpotential losses. We can speculate on how good Ark and SC will be, but it's speculation, and they get Ark at home. Auburn? Same same, but they come to our house, which in this series, isn't a handicap for the road team. Honestly, I don't know about Ga Tech. If they can simply win 2 of those 5, they have what appears to be 7 pretty winnable remaining games. Richt doesn't get canned for a 8-9 win season which is very, very doable this year, and could conceivably stumble to a 10 win season. Worst case is 7 wins, and he still doesn't get canned for that.
