Just wanted to share an experience that I had there last week.
While I was in Auburn, the transmission on my Jeep seized up. (un)Luckily for me, I was right in front of this dealership. They told me that they could fix it. So I rented a car and left it there. They called to let me know it was ready and I drove back down to pick it up.
I opened the door and I was surprised to see the condition of the interior. The rubber boot that covers the stick shift was broken and spun sideways, the ashtray was popped open and off its runner, there was mud all over the floor, the bass control for my radio was re-installed upside down and my personal effects from the console were strewn all over the back of the vehicle.
I went back inside and spoke to the service manger. She said that she would take a look at it. I told her that I didn’t have time to wait, but I wanted them to know how disappointed that I was. I started to drive down the road and decided to check the 4-Wheel Drive. It wouldn’t engage. I pulled over, looked under the chassis, and could see where they had power washed it before they changed out the transmissions. I could see a big mud spot/scratch where they had taken the Jeep out after it had been fixed. I don’t mind a test drive to make sure the work is done, but they put 60 miles on it and bottomed out a suspension that lifts the Jeep’s floor up to your waist.
Anyway, I went back to the dealership and spoke to the owner. He handed me over to the service manager. She gave me $20 for the busted shift boot and said she was sorry. I asked her what she planned on doing about the tranny not going into 4WD. She said, “Your busted transmission is sitting in the back, caked in mud. We don’t know if the 4WD worked when you brought it in.”
I told that it most certainly did. Besides, the dealership installed a NEW transmission in a 4WD vehicle. By definition, it should have 4WD. She just looked at me. I told her I didn’t plan to argue the point. I walked out and called my credit card company. No way am I paying for this shit.
Just a little heads up in case you have car issues or are looking at making a vehicle purchase the next time that you are in God’s Country.
