My heart goes out to this father. My son has sever PTSD and has bouts of loneliness and depression due to that and a back injury that the Army can't pin down. We worry daily about that. He has been an excellent soldier in the field in both theaters. But if he were to commit suicide, I would not expect a letter from the president. I too agree that there is no dignity. But to expect the same class of treatment given the soldier that died saving his comrades is to spit on the true hero. It would be of no consolation to me.
