I'd like to believe it.  But our defense is going to get us killed at some point.  UT self-destructed.  If they'd caught half the passes they just flat out missed... ugh.   We gave up 16 fourth quarter points.  No excuse for that, although I'm sure there will be those who will be chock full of them.

Until proven otherwise, we're still in the Georgia=LSU slot at best.

I think you've got LSU too high, though.

Auburn dominated the first half. This was the first time on the raod with a lot of young players and I think we only get better. If you saw the slap fight whish was LSU-UGA, you can't deny AU is better than both of those teams right now...

Auburn's defense just gave up over 400 yards to the worst offense in the SEC.  Don't get me wrong, Auburn's played damn good ball so far this season, but no way are they at the same level as UF or UA right now.

With that said.

Yes, we did give up some big plays.  But Auburn held them to 16...I'd take that any day of the week.  BTW, I know they scored a last second Hail Mary TD, but I'm really not counting that in my thoughts about the defense

Regardless of how you count it, Jonathan Crompton just posted a career high with 260 yards through the air.  And he didn't throw a pick in a game for the first time this season.

I have a feeling that next week's game is going to have a basketball score.

I completely agree. If f UT had a QB worth even half a fuck we'd have been in trouble. Our D isn't terrible, just sporadic ( I thought the first and third quarters were good) and not lights out like we are used to.

NO you don't count it when evaluating the Defense as a whole...it was a last second 31 yard bomb....a TD that didn't mean anything.

I'm sure that you'll count it when you're evaluating the Defense and I have a pretty good idea as to why.

The Defense played better than I felt that they would.  The Neiko Thorpe play comes to mind...most DBs would've had two broken ankles when Hardesty tried to juke him.  But, Thorpe juked with him, then stuck him.  Our Defense stepped up when it was needed.

The Kickoff return team was what really won the ballgame for us tonight.

Kickoff coverage team?  Just have the kicker kick it out of bounds, instead of having the kicker make a TD saving tackle on more than one occasion.

Wes Byrum missed his first FG of the year.

I was happy to see PPL back there returning punts....and he didn't fumble the return.  All PPL needs is a crease and it's bye-bye "frenchy".

Punt Coverage...did a pretty good job.

I was definitely happy with the way Tate is rollin'....especially the nice little bump that sent Eric Berry flying.

I was happy with what I saw with Bart Eddins' first start.

No significant injuries...actually I can only think of McFadden going out with a twisted or sprained ankle, but he was back on the field not long afterwards.

I was definitely happy with the way the offense was able to do against the #8 Defense in the Country.

I'm going to laugh my ass off at the bammers this Monday, when they say that we would've gotten beat if UT had a better ___________

And, hopefully I'll see this on Friday...."Sorry Auburn fans, but another loss coming" - Charles Hollis

Florida - No explanation needed. Will repeat as NC unless somebody proves otherwise.

Alabama - Has to learn to come out and just fucking smash teams. Don't play down to the other team. Offensive line has to get better, and the 3 linebackers playing new positions will have to step it up quick to pick up Hightower's slack.

Auburn - Alot of folks are eating their words about the offense, including myself. Todd looks to be 100% better than last season, but shits the bed from time to time. Depth issues on the defensive side of the ball will cost AU at least two games this season. They give it up like a hooker on the streets in the second half of ballgames, and that will be an issue when AU plays a team that is actually capable of moving the ball on offense (i.e. Arkansas). A team that can get consistant pressure in the pocket will create a huge issue for the offense as well.

LSU - Their number 4 ranking is a complete joke. Outside of Charles Scott and Chad Jones, they have nothing. As I said last week, they are just waiting for somebody to expose them. Had it not been for completely ridiculous playcalling against MSU, that would have been a loss. I see them getting fucked up by UF, a tossup against AU (only because they always play AU so tough),  a loss to Alabama, a win over Ole Miss, a loss by at least two scores to Arkansas.

Ole Miss - Good defense, just not sold on the offense though. I don't know how there was so much hype about Snead, and he is proving me right for questioning it. Running game is halfass decent, and thats against inferior opponents. The first time they went up against a decent defense in South Carolina, they lost the game.

Arkansas - They would be very dangerous if they actually had a defense, and a halfass running game. One of the worst defense in the SEC. With no running game, it makes it easy to gameplan to stop the offense. But you're gonna need some horses on your defense to do it. If Mallett can get in any sort of groove, you are fucked. Pressure, pressure, and more pressure is the key to slowing this fucker down.

Georgia - Total rebuilding year on both sides of the ball. Outside of AJ Green, UGA doesn't have shit. Problem is, they need somebody who can get the ball to Green too. I would be shocked if they finished the season above .500, as I predict a loss against UT, UF, AU, and GT. I think the UK game will be a tossup, depending if UK brings their game like they did against Florida or if they bring their game like they did against Alabama.

South Carlolina - No offense, but a good defense. No real weapons.

Kentucky - Same as UGA. They have Randall Cobb, who is better than I originally gave him credit for. Other than that, nothing.

UT - If not for their defense, they would be 1-4. If they had anything resembling a passing game, I think they would have a totally different season. Crompton is a 5th year SR, and is just terrible. The scary thing is? There isn't anybody behind him for next season. Receivers are horrible as well. The rushing game isn't that bad at all. They have a 5th year SR, Hardesty, that is pretty good. Then behind him are a few studs in Oku and Richardson. Last night, watching Kiffin, I saw shades of Shula. He will last probably 3 seasons, and will be gone.

MSU and Vandy - Not even going to waste my time.

Unbridled hubris in regard to Bama.  Is expected.

Your analysis of Auburn is completely ridiculous.  Todd doesn't "poop the bed" at all.  His mechanics are sometimes bad, but I've given up worrying about that.  Peyton Manning looks like an electrocuted rickets survivor when he throws, but it's worked out okay for him. What Todd does is make good decisions. Constantly.  He got hit a lot against Tennessee.  Care to guess how many times he was sacked?  He made some extremely heady plays to turn bad situations into good ones.

Your assessment in regard to Auburn's second half defensive issues is equally asinine. Auburn's defense has some issues. No doubt. But they are different every week. There is no consistent second half lapse to which you can point to back up your attempt at a point.

This is all exactly right.  I was shocked at the poise Todd showed, and even more by the Brett Favre-ish completions he made on throws a lot of QBs wouldn't have even attempted to get off.

Problem is, we better score 50 next week or we lose.

This is what I'm screamin'.

If Auburn hasn't surpassed your expectations this year already by game 5, then you're full of shit.

I swear to God, almost every week of the season, "experts" and especially bammers, have been saying we're gonna get toasted by the teams we are set to play. Then once we play them, they were never very good. La Tech was a trendy pick to win the opener before we handed them their asses. Then it was "Yeah, but next week they start SEC play. MSU will give them fits." Roasted. Then it was "Yeah, but they haven't faced a team like West Virginia yet. That'll be the true test." Many again picked us to lose. Wrong. Then leading up to this week, we were the actual Vegas underdogs.  "Ok, for real, seriously this time, THIS is Auburn's first real test. Tennessee's stellar defense will shut this offense down quick." Didn't happen.

Auburn is a no shit team. I'd certainly agree with RWS's ordering of the teams, but I'd say Auburn is basically in its own tier between Alabama and LSU. I feel very confident about everyone on the schedule, except Alabama, and I predict that to be the most electric Iron Bowl I've seen in my lifetime.

With the Bammers, they won't be satisfied with Auburn's progress until two days after Thanksgiving. The day after Thanksgiving being the initial "Shock" and that Saturday being the "Awe". Then and only then will it be real to them. It will also be the time that get to see their innermost turd come forth. Anytime is an exciting time to be an Auburn Tiger Fan. WDE! 5-0.
