I've been saying this for years.  That exact scenario.

Conference play and rivalry games remain just as important.  The "BCS" teams are still intact.  Hell, even designate the first round to include traditional bowl matchups.  The Rose Bowl will ALWAYS get Big 10 vs Pac 10 in the first round.

But fuck Notre Dame.  If they don't want to join a conference, they get just as much of a shot as Boise St.

I like it.  The only thing I would add, is use some of the smaller bowls for play-in games for the smaller conferences.  Let the sunbelt champ take on the Wac Champ in the Holiday bowl for one of the 2 at large spots.  Kind of like the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

I like it all except the conference champs being automatic.  I understand winning a conference often means something, but occasionally it doesn't.

If the conference champs are automatic, it takes away much argument.  You're talking about winning it on the field and that's what would happen.

Were this to come about, though, I'd advocate the SEC either do away with East vs. West games OR take East vs. West games out of the computation for division crown OR change the SEC schedule so you play all eleven teams in the league and have just one OOC slot.

(I'd choose option two).

I actually liike the idea of dropping the SEC championship game but that will never happen due to TV.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."
