Soooo, apparently the Russians have stomped their feet enough and Obama has made the decision to scrap the plans to install interceptors in Poland and an advanced radar station in the Czech Republic. If you ask the Obama administration, its because Iran doesn't have the capability of long range missiles "right now". If you ask anybody else, its because Russia bitched and whined that we were undermining their "vast arsenal and capability". Plus, I'm sure they didn't like the idea of having any kind of US technology near Russia. The Polish and Czech governments aren't all that happy, especially given their past dealings with Russia.
Thats fine if they want some stations closer to Iran to handle the short to medium range missiles. But its a pretty big gamble. Basically, we just have to hope and pray our intelligence is right, and that Iran doesn't have an uber-secret program going on. I don't see why we can't just have the stations in Czech and Poland, AND have some closer to Iran. Then you are covered just in case. All in all, way for our administration to show how much of pussies they are.
