ESPNU's take on the New SEC Coaches....
« on: September 06, 2009, 03:25:03 PM »
They commented that Auburn's win was the most impressive of the three, because Auburn actually played a real opponent.

I'll say this, LaTech will beat someone this year, that they aren't supposed to (Boise State or LSU) and I wouldn't be too surprised if they give LSU a run for their money.

Here's their remaining schedule:
Sep. 12 at Navy (Possible Win)
Sep. 19 Nicholls St. (Win)
Sep. 30 Hawaii (Win)
Oct. 9 at Nevada (Possible Win)
Oct. 17 New Mexico St. (Win)
Oct. 24 at Utah State (Win)
Oct. 31 at Idaho (Win)
Nov. 6 Boise State (Loss)
Nov. 14 at LSU (Possible Win) (LSU plays Ole Miss the week after)
Nov. 21 at Fresno State (Win)
Dec. 5 San Jose St. (Win)

7 Wins, 3 Possible Wins, 1 Loss
So, at best they'll go 10-2, at worst they'll go 7-5

I'm not saying La Tech wasn't a solid opponent, but Navy will beat bad next week.  Maybe worse than Auburn did.

Here's what Chris Low of ESPN had to say:

http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/2781/what-we-learned-in-the-sec-week-1-2
Quote
The opening weekend in the SEC was one big Cream Puff Party for most of the teams.

Props to Alabama, Georgia, LSU and South Carolina for actually playing somebody, although you wonder where the Bulldogs are emotionally now after managing only a field goal in their last 11 possessions Saturday and losing to Oklahoma State 24-10.

Making too many determinations after just one weekend is always a little dangerous. Actually, the weekend isn’t over. Ole Miss wraps it up later Sunday against Memphis.

But here’s a look at what we’ve learned so far:

1. Exhibition games come to the SEC: Six of the teams won by at least 38 points, and Auburn pulled away in the second half to “edge” Louisiana Tech by 24 points. Hey, warm-up games are nice and a lot of the teams around the country play them, but what transpired Saturday bordered on the ridiculous. If you add up the combined winning margins of Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt, the total comes out to 302 points. That’s not football. That’s pure slaughter. Message to the future schedule makers in this conference: No more of this whaling away at gnats with a sledge hammer.
Not so sure about LSU "playing somebody", though.

You know what?  Fuck him.  No, he's too fat.  Fuck his wife/girlfriend/mother.  Unless she's a hog too.

This is the same bitch that was saying a few days ago that La. Tech would be a good test. That they'd challenge AU.

Well fuckty-fuckty-doo.  Beat somebody and suddenly they're a puss?

Chris Low, you bama licking goon?  Suck my starfish.

I know you post this to put a damper on the win by Auburn.  That's the only reason, but Chris Low also had good things to say about us in another article as well.  (Gave helmet sticker to Gus Malzhan for delivering when it came to offense and noted our solid play)

BTW...good luck with Florida International next week. ...Oh...then North Texas the week after.  As if you don't play bullshit games early also.

There's no doubt we play bullshit games early, as alot of people do. I would say playing a team like VT is the exception, not the rule to openers. I have no issue with teams playing bullshit games to start the season. Where I have an issue is when somebody starts trying to make them out to be more than they are, like some of our fans did after the ULM loss. No way in this universe should ULM beat our second stringers even. They are a shitty team, and there is no way you can possibly spin that. Just because they beat Alabama didn't make them a great team.....it makes them a shitty team that beat Alabama.

Play all the bullshit teams that you want, but watch out how much gold paint you brush them with.

Youve got to beat them before you can talk shit about them. We've beaten VaTech. Big deal. We've beaten LT and ULM. You've still got to get there.

Fuck you and your articles.

Your purpose was just very transparent...that's all.

Anyway, who here is making LA Tech look like world beaters???  The comments were made by ESPNU's David Pollack today... and like always...his motor never stopped running.

Gus didn't look too happy with the 556 yds. He knows yall could have done better.
He just set them up for the long pass.

If I got to name that play, I'd call it "Ass & Elbows".  That's all they saw.  There was 5 to 10 yds of seperation after the pump fake and double move.... Great pass that hit Zachery in stride.  It was beautiful.

What I hate is when the talking heads say things like this, when they know the economic reasons behind the scheduling.  The budget requires 7 home games.  With 4 SEC road games, that means you only have room for one more on the road, and the cupcakes are the only schools that will play without demanding a home game in return.  The asshats on TV talk like SEC teams schedule cupcakes because they're scared of competition, when they know good and well the decisions are purely economic.
