Chiz gets big praise from top coach...
« on: March 27, 2009, 12:38:03 PM »
I saw this little piece about Thigpen coming over from UNC. I didn't realize it, but UNC was his Alma Mater. One of the up and coming coaches left his freaking alma mater to come coach for Chizik. Not only that, but Mack Brown gave Chizik his FULL endorsement. You can hate Mack Brown all you want, but he has been around football (and WINNING football) a long long time. And when he says that Chiz is one of the best he has been around, it should mean something...

Once again, I am not saying that this will turn into wins, but I really am liking more and more of what I see in this guy and his coaching staff.

Quote

Thigpen and Lolley were the last two hires by AU head coach Gene Chizik . Thigpen left North Carolina, his alma mater, to join AU's staff.

"I could have been at my alma mater all my life," Thigpen said. "I want to be at a place where football is really, really important. This place? It's unbelievable.

"When you talk to coaches outside the country, the told me you've got to go. It's one of the best jobs in all of America."

One of the coaches Thigpen consulted was Texas head coach Mack Brown.

"Mack is one of my biggest confidants," Thigpen said. "I ask him about my career all the time. He said: I'm going to tell you one of the best, fiery young coaches, most talented coaches coming up, one of the best I'm ever had coach for me, is Gene Chizik.

"When he told me that, it was a no-brainer. Pack up, it's time to go."

You guys are hilarious.  When Willis left his alma mater to go coach under Saban he was a piece of shit, mommy part fisting traitor.  When Thigpen leaves his alma mater to go coach under Chizik it's because Chizik is "one of the best, fiery young coaches."

Its not different and you know it.
But I have no reason to hate Coach Brown. But I've seen enough people who have sold enough broken down pieces of shit in my life to be able to smell a perfumed turd when I'm down wind of one.  Mac was not going to ever say anything bad about someone that he had hired. That would make him look like he was a bad judge of coaches....and that could spell serious trouble in his line of work.  This posting makes me think of the Kentucky press conference from today where they kept heaping praise upon Billy Gillespie (however its spelled) and constantly saying his win/loss record was not why they were cutting him loose. Of course everyone knew if he was still coaching in the NCAA tourny then he would still be there. It was the same thing Mac Brown did when askedabout Fuckhead. He perfumed the turd.
Fuck chizik.

You like fucking goats too?

It IS different.  Thigpen saw a career opportunity.  Willis betrayed his alma mater to coach at his bitter rival.  It's not like Thigpen went to coach on Duke's basketball team.

It's still a leaky faucet, bro.

There's no connection between North Carolina and Auburn.  AU and Alabama are bitter rivals.  I guess I shouldn't be surprised that you don't understand that.  You are a Bama fan and all.

No you are comparing loyalty to a coaching job.
You remain with Auburn because you are a loyal fan.
Coaches are at Auburn because it is a job. When a better job opens they take it. Just as anyone else does with a job. Unless staying with your present job is so important you don't mind staying and watching your company go down in flames so bad that anyone who is associated with it will never ever get a job in that field again. Then your just nuts.

How would you define "better job"?

I think his definition of a job better than Auburn is obvious.  North Carolina is better.  And definitely Bama is better.

No bama is not better. NC is better....in basketball. But no coach in their right mind actually looked at chizik and thought "I'm at the end of search, this man is a coaching God.".  More than likely they realised that they couldn't fuck up as bad as he already has.
