Steelers Owner Thanks Obama
« on: February 02, 2009, 04:04:55 PM »
Honestly, I really didn't care who won the Superbowl yesterday since the Carolina Panzers didn't make it.  I kind-of thought that it would be the Steelers but didn't really have a dog in the hunt so to speak.

I was disgusted by the choice of that ne'er-do-well, blue-collar wanna-be otherwise known as "The Boss" to perform at the half-time show.  Both GarMan and I switched to something more exciting rather than subject ourselves to this fucking lib-puke.

But I was further disgusted at Steelers Owner Dan Rooney going (seemingly) out of his way to thank The ONE at the end of the game (never mind doing the normal thing of thanking God or Jesus...but in retrospect I guess they're all one-in-the-same to The ONE's supporters).   This was, I thought, an un-necessary introduction of politics into an apolitical, quintessentially-American, annual sporting event.  I thought to myself, why did Rooney thank The ONE.

Then I found this article this morning, news of which I obviously missed last year, on U. S. News, all emphasis is my own:

The Pittsburgh Steelers Owner Backs "Underdog" Obama in the Pennsylvania Primary

Even amid the "bitter" controversy over remarks that have the potential to alienate some Pennsylvania voters, Sen. Barack Obama may still be able to attract the support of one important Pennsylvania demographic—Pittsburgh Steelers fans—thanks to an endorsement made yesterday from Steelers owner and chairman Dan Rooney.

Rooney, who planned to remain politically neutral, endorsed Obama Monday and appeared alongside the Illinois senator at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. "I think it came as a surprise to most political pundits in Pennsylvania," said Gerald Shuster, a professor of political communication and presidential rhetoric at the University of Pittsburgh who said the Rooneys traditionally stay away from political endorsements but usually finance campaigns on both sides of the aisle.

The Steelers can fuck off as far as I'm concerned.

Makes me wonder why, the hell, Rush was supporting this team?!

By the way, the MSM doesn't appear to think it necessary to report on what Dan Rooney said but the right-wing bloggers have reported it in the alternative media; which is why I didn't post an MSM link.

Here's one report from "OurHussein.com", emphasis is the authors and this is worth reading in it's entirety:

Dan Rooney's Obama Worship

by MrArbitrage

Many recipients of championship trophies thank God for giving them the opportunity.  Those who don’t thank God will generally thank teammates or coaching staff.  During the presentation of the Lombardi Trophy, the first utterance to proceed from the mouth of Steelers President Dan Rooney was - no kidding - “I would like to thank President Barack Obama.”

For what reason is he thanking a politician in connection with this Super Bowl victory?

Was it the benevolence of Barack Obama allowing him to keep the team that his father built?  This epitomizes second generation wealth, someone who was the beneficiary of a legacy he did not create.  I don’t think this response encapsulates the philosophy of the great Vince Lombardi, the legendary man of excellence after whom this trophy was named.  I don’t know what his political persuasion was but Lombardi might well have been turning in his grave last night.  Pittsburgh was victorious because the coaches and the players prepared, trained hard, played hard.  It wasn’t government welfare that won the game for them.  Government parasites had nothing to do with this victory and thanking a left winged prima donna before anyone else was a slap in the face of those men who earned the trophy.  As a football fan, I am offended by this comment as it was inappropriate as much as it was senseless.

I know there must be many leftists in this country who loved seeing THEIR “messiah” praised at a time when most athletes traditionally acknowledge that their gifts were bestowed from The Almighty.  Perhaps Rooney’s words were not inadvertent.  Maybe he actually WAS thanking his god.

If so, last night’s idolatry may be a parallel of what has happened to this country culminating on November 4th.   It begs the question, as I’ve asked here before, how long before our Hussein seats himself in the Holy of Holies?  It may just be a question of how long it takes for Israel to rebuild the temple.

It is simple.......Pittsburg steel = unions = anit-NAFTA = trade protectionism

The U.S. auto industry takes a big hit, Pittsburg steel takes a big hit, people in Pittsburgh will have bigger concerns then being able to afford season tickets. Russian and Chinese steel glut the market, Pittsburgh becomes a ghost town. The professional football team known as the Steelers will cease to be.

It makes perfect sense.
