A person has been arrested in connection with the shooting of South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh, according to multiple reports.

No details on the suspect were immediately available, local NBC affiliate WCBD reported.

Murdaugh was shot in the head Sept. 4 while on the side of the road in Hampton County. His representatives have disputed rumors that the gunshot was self-inflicted.


South Carolina state police are investigating accusations that Murdaugh stole money from his law firm before resigning. Murdaugh resigned two days after he was shot.

Murdaugh’s wife, Maggie, and 22-year-old son, Paul, were fatally shot in June at their home in Colleton County, one county east where Alex was shot.

No arrests have been made in the deaths of Maggie and Paul. Alex admitted that their deaths exacerbated a series of personal struggles. He checked into rehab shortly after resigning his position at the powerful law firm, which his family founded in 1910.

Paul had been implicated in a fatal boating accident in 2019, but the charges were dropped after he was murdered.

This article is all fucked up, to your point. It mentions him being shot but it sounds as though he’s still alive. Then, at the end it mentions that the charges were dropped after he was did in.

 I imagine that’s commonplace for the fuzz that posted the article to drop the charges after he shoots an unarmed black man. But I’m not certain how that works. They may have to stand trial posthumously.

Ironically, just this morning, I was giving my grandmother holy hell for voting for Biden.  When I left the cemetery, I felt better for getting that off my chest.
