Gus vs Cecil

Like most on here, not the biggest fan of Gus. But this was good. Gus remarks that he wished the game was at noon.....gives a team more time to prep for the next week - a subtle jab at Bama bitching about kickoff time.

Cecil Hurt decides this just hurt his derp derp Bammer Vag too much and responds back on Finebaum in only the way that Derp Derp Hurt can. In fact USA Today says Gus was insensitive. 

Cecil Hurt is the most well-known beat writer covering athletics for the University of Alabama. When he speaks, most people listen.

Well, Hurt certainly spoke on Tuesday during The Paul Finebaum Show. First, he was asked about Alabama’s players and fans dealing with the extreme heat against New Mexico State this past Saturday.

Once that response was given, as well as Hurt going into detail about LSU being able to set its own kickoff times, the Crimson Tide beat writer was asked by Finebaum about this comment on Tuesday morning from Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn:

Alabama complained Monday about being put in a noon kickoff vs. Southern Miss, setting up Gus Malzahn for an all-time press conference subtweet.

"6 p.m. kick. Personally I wish it was at noon so we'd have more time to prepare for our next opponent."

So, what did Hurt have to say about that subtle, yet obvious shade? Well, you can see for yourself below.

The fact that Malzahn was taking a shot at Alabama’s complaints despite the health-related dynamic came off as insensitive. Hurt’s response only echos what most people were already thinking.

More than likely, this will not be the last time we hear about the scheduling and kickoff issues in the SEC.

But back to this.  Cecil thinks he's funny.  He thinks he has a deadpan sense of humor second only to Steven Wright. He's not funny. His sense of humor is cringe-worthy.  What I heard in his response was his regular, pathetically lame effort at making light of the situation.  He failed as usual.

Some of the comments on the book faxes were just so face-palm worthy, it was ridiculous.  Most were along the lines of: 

"Don't think this won't be bulletin board material come Arn Bowl time."

Yeah, I can see the Tide coming out of the tunnel now with a raging mad on and chanting, "Starting Time....Starting Time...Starting Time"

Nothing fires a team and fan base up like starting time smack.

“If you really look, really the positives, both second halves (of the first two games), we played really good football and we finished really good.
