The horror of the uninformed
« on: July 21, 2018, 04:38:34 PM »
Contrary to popular belief, I try to listen to all sides before I make my entrenched, dug-in positions.  I spent some time this week watching and listening to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just to see if I could figure out the allure.  I knew without hesitation that I disagreed with her essential position -- socialism is a failed and worthless idea and is the antithesis of the core values that made this country into what it is today.  But still I gave her a listen.

She's enthusiastic, she's attractive, she's personable. She's also a complete moron with no sense of historical perspective or economic reality.  She's dangerous because she's more difficult to dismiss than the ranting Anteater Bernie Sanders and she doesn't ooze crazy evil like most socialists.  Other than being a waitress in college she's never held a real job.

Her platform is rife with unbounded idiocy.

1) Medicare for all.  Hey, wonderful idea.  Who in the hell is going to pay for it?  Prowler?  I think everybody should get free ice cream, too, but this country is founded on the idea of equal opportunity, not equal outcome.  Who pays for it?  Ah, more tax.  But she doesn't even understand that simple concept.

2) Free college for everyone.   If everyone has it, the value disintegrates.  A college degree becomes worthless and employers will begin requiring advanced degrees -- which are not handed out like candy.  Who's going to pay for that anyway?  How will colleges provide teachers, administrators, facilities, etc?  Oh, right MORE tax.  She doesn't get this either.  It's just "free" in her simple mind.

3) Cancel all student debt.  Look, I agree that the educational system has gotten out of control (thanks to federal meddling for the most part).  It's ridiculous for a kid to pay $20k a year for a college degree that's going to guarantee them nothing.  Leaving college with $80 - $100k in debt is onerous.  There needs to be some reform there, maybe colleges should stop the arms race and quit building a new facility every 90 days (Auburn) or quit spending hundreds of millions on software systems that aren't worth the bandwidth they take.  But cancel all student debt and make college free for everybody?  I'm sorry you're still paying for your student loans, Alexandria, honey, but this isn't the answer.

4) Everybody gets a job with a minimum wage of $15 an hour.  Dumbest idea I've ever heard in my life.  You raise the minimum wage to $15 and McDonald's is just going to raise the price of a Big Mac to $8.  Inflation will explode in order to keep up.  $15 then will buy what $7 does now.  Economics, Alexandria, you stupid fool.  Oh, everybody also gets healthcare as part of their guaranteed job.  Who's gonna pay for that?  She says it's free.  In her mind I'm sure it is but somebody's gotta pay the doctors, for the machinery, for the medicine, for the facilities.  More taxes.  But if the government is "guaranteeing" employment, then the government will just be keeping some of the money it was giving away -- and where the hell did that money come from if the people didn't earn it?

5) Everybody gets a house.  Really?  How stupid can anyone be.  She wants to "cut taxes" so everybody can afford a house with costs regulated by the government.  But wait, we already need MORE taxes to pay for free college, free medicare, free healthcare and guaranteed jobs.  So how's this going to happen?  She's a damned idiot who hasn't thought past tomorrow.

6) Legalize drugs. Take money away from the police departments. Close prisons.   Brilliant.  If you're a dumbass.

7) Open the borders.  Abolish ICE. No comment.  The ignorance and naivete here is staggering.

8) Go back to massive legislation and focus on "Climate Change"  She's fully embraced the lie and like all air-headed millennials is braying at the moon on this topic.

9) Campaign Finance Reform.  Ok.  I don't have a problem here.  The way we run elections in this country all but guarantees we end up with shrews like Hillary Clinton who are so corrupt that it defies description. The days when a young man with ideas and vision could rise from a log cabin in Illinois to become president are all but over.  Something does need to be done, but given her position on everything else, I don't trust this dingbat to have the right ideas.

The people who support this sort of lunacy are idiots.  They're the pampered kids who never really knew where mommy and daddy's money came from and haven't had to work for anything.  They're also those who work for a living in menial jobs (almost always because of bad choices they themselves made) who think the rich folks should give away stuff -- never considering for an instant that many of those "rich" people worked their asses off and risked everything they had to earn what they have.

Yeah, I'd like to live in a $25 million mansion on the coast and have a $5 million yacht.  Life and choices consipired to deny me that.  But I don't expect the guy who was lucky/hardworking enough to get to that point to hand it over to me just because I want some of it.

This woman needs to read Animal Farm.  She's a pig.  She's dangerous.  She needs to be driven back to where she came from -- as of a year ago, tending bar.  From behind the bar she can pontificate all she wants to while she serves people beer.

Is he bringing his yacht too?
Hey Wiregrass, we are having a party at the yacht club this weekend.  If you have the time, how'd you like to come mow my lawn?

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
