Of course there are other German based companies in the US.  Might some close down US operations?  Maybe.  Maybe not.  Do you think T-Mobile is going to close down?  How about Daimler? Volkswagen?  Siemens?  Bayer?  Trader Joe's?  DHL?  STIHL?  I doubt it, because at the end of the day, it's all about money.  If nothing else, tariffs imposed on German imports such as vehicles will spur more domestic growth and will more than likely cause those companies to invest more in their US operations.  Those companies aren't going to shut down US operations because Trump said something that hurt their feelings.  Those companies are here because it is making them money.  BMW certainly isn't going to shut down operations here just to turn around and export the same product they were making here and get hit with a tariff.  That doesn't make sense.
