anyone watch obama and mccain at the saddleback civil forum last night?  it was pretty telling of what each would be like if they were elected.  Obama, ofcourse, danced around tough issues.  McCain hit his military record every chance he could.  Overall, i'd give a McCain and minor victory of obama for this battle.  Obama was eloquent as ever, (i'll give him credit, he knows how to speak well.)

It'll be interesting to see them debate.  That will be a true test for Obama.  Not sure if he has the experience and balls to stand up to direct, specific attacks from McCain during debates.  Obama won't have the option of giving a 30 minute long speech about hope and change.

I was very pleasantly surprised by McCains performance. He was dead on the entire night. Obama was so-so. McCain freaking nailed it. Can't wait for the debates.

I missed it due to some other plans last weekend but from what I've been able to catch up on Obama bombed (if you'll pardon my quasi-alliterative verbage).  If he's as horrible at the debates as he was Saturday night then I think that McCain will win this coming November.  Obama could not answer a simple question without doing constant verbal contortions to keep himself from taking any kind of a committed position.  I think that the Saddleback inquisition was a disaster for Obama and his performance explains why he won't commit to participating in more than three debates with McCain.

You know that Obama's in trouble when he sends out the excuses.  The Saddleback inquisition was no exception in that his people (and some of the media if you can believe that; ref. Andrea Mitchell on "Meet the Press") said that McCain cheated by listening in on Obama.

McCain apparently responded to this claim (through his Campaign Manager) in a letter to NBC that read in part:

Quote
...
Make no mistake: This is a serious charge. Andrea Mitchell is repeating, uncritically, a completely unsubstantiated Obama campaign claim that John McCain somehow cheated in last night's forum at Saddleback Church. Instead of trying to substantiate this blatant falsehood in any way, Andrea Mitchell felt that she needed to repeat it on air to millions of "Meet the Press" viewers with no indication that 1.) There's not one shred of evidence that it's true; 2.) In his official correspondence to both campaigns, Pastor Rick Warren provided both candidates with information regarding the topic areas to be covered, which Barack Obama acknowledged during the forum when asked about Pastor Warren's idea of an emergency plan for orphans and Obama said, "I cheated a little bit. I actually looked at this idea ahead of time, and I think it is a great idea;" 3.) John McCain actually requested that he and Barack Obama do the forum together on stage at the same time, making these kinds of after-the-fact complaints moot.

Well this all goes to the typical liberal/socialist way of thinking.  Whenever you fail it is always someone elses fault, or the playing field was not level in some form.

It's the Victim Mentality, and it's their skewed, screwed-up concept of "equality".  Democrats, Socialists and Communists are pros when it comes to that.  It's always somebody else's fault, and they extend it to every possible aspect of society and circumstance.  It's not that you failed to perform.  It's that somebody else has an advantage over you, and that was "unfair".  They don't accept the fact that you're stronger or weaker in areas where other people may be weaker or stronger.  In their minds, everybody is supposed to be equal at everything.
