Meh...whatever.

The only thing changing is the name on the doorplate in the HC office.

Oh, and they will have a new parking lot next door by next fall.

Bottom line: Chizik failed in terms of player discipline and player development. He failed in replacing valuable assistant coaches from Malzahn to defensive line coach Tracy Rocker. He failed to either spot the problems in his program or to adequately address them.

At the end of his tenure, Chizik is what a lot of people thought he was when Auburn hired him with his 5-19 record from Iowa State.

Kaos wasn't the only one, just the most vocal.

Many of us thought it was a fail hire.  His Assistant Coaches selection swayed some.  Then 2010 came and most (if not all) were "all in".

I was physically sick to my stomach wen we hired him. His selection of coaches swayed me to at least give him a chance. And like you said, 2010 made many forget all about the hire.

That article was sad.  It confirms (to an extent) what we had all heard throughout the season that we had no discipline and a coach that had lost the respect of his team.  I imagine that we will hear more stories like this come out as time goes on.

I agree... I have a feeling we'll see MUCH more coming out as time passes, and it's not going to be good.

However, Scarbinsky is yanking his crank to this entire situation and for that I wish someone would dress him up as a bag of Summer's Eve and push him off the the top of the Regions tower downtown to go splat, as he's a PoS mullet with a crimson themed copy of MS word.

Meh.... Scarbo pisses both sides off equally, which would lead me to believe he is pretty even keeled.

This.  All that crap is exactly the things I feared.  It all spells "Lost the program".  That's why I think it's going to be tough to get it turned around quickly.  We may be weeding out a ton of sorry asses.

Question on the NCAA "investigation."  Didn't I see where Chizik had a clause in his contract pertaining to trouble, ongoing investigations etc. and his buyout?  If so, doesn't paying him the $$$ suggest there's not anything to those rumors?

Meh, you have some kids who don't want to work no matter what the coach says, you have some kids who will put in the work without anybody browbeating them, and you have some kids who will do what the coaches ask and only what the coaches ask.  It might take some time but I think most kids will come around.  After all, by most reports the guys we have were cream of the crop in high school.  You don't get that way by being a complete slovenly asshole.

You meet a man on the Oregon Trail. He tells you his name is Terry. You laugh and tell him: "That's a girl's name!" Terry shoots you. You have died of dissin' Terry.

Yeah, some players are just better than everyone around them in HS, even some in college.  And many talented athletes fail in college because they never had to work at the game before.  In college, you have to have a system in place where guys fear losing their ride.  Where there are consequences.  Rules, and consequences for violating them.  You can't depend on the "just good kids" to run the program.  It sounds to me like Chiz has that "if you ignore it it will go away" personality trait.  It doesn't.  If there's not a strong leader AT THE TOP, rules, standards, and fear of consequences, the lowest common denominator will eventually be the majority culture.
