I really think (from wht I've heard from a few folks who know more than me) it's a Petrino and malzahn race

50% Petrino-favored by those not in the JJ warm and fuzzy camp
40% Malzahn- favored by the warm fuzzies like JJ and his supporters (McWhorter)
10% Jimbo,Strong or other

Whenever I hear Malzahn, I think of his wife spewing a bunch of garbage to a large crowd at a mega church. 

I also worry that because Malzahn was around for the Chizik debacle, th current players won't take him seriously and expect him to run the program like the last four years making it more difficult to truly improve the auburn program. 

I want a clean slate.  A new face the players don't know and honestly don't like at firt.  In fact, I hope the hate the new coach cause he kicks them in the teeth on day one. 

I think that has to be Petrino.

I like Gus but agree 100%.

All going to depend on how badly those in power want to win. Winning = $$$ at Auburn and they have to realize this. We can get our way with Petrino right now contractually (no buy out for us but we get paid good if he walks) and probably for a good deal (2 mil or less per yr). And he WILL win. Period.

True that; we have some solid commits who we cannot completely alienate by dragging this out.  And the more I think about it, the more I'm thinking it's Petrino's job to turn away.  Of all schools with vacancies right now, Auburn is the best option for Bobby...taking places he's already been out of the equation, of course.  And tbh, the only reason I'm putting Arkansas ahead of us is b/c how much they're most likely to spend on their next HC.

This is a 3.5 or 4M job for any worthy candidate on this level.
