It's a small step in the right direction...  It won't really affect all of them, but it would touch most of them.  It would have to be significant enough to make a dent.

Just e-Verify everybody to validate employment status...

True, I just saw it as an opportunity to plug for a consumption tax.

I am not going to do a lot of quotes here but.......

Jeb?  Would have been miles and miles better than W, seriously, the wrong Bush ran and got elected.  Not saying that Jeb would have been Reagan, but he wouldn't have been that bad in 2000.  W sucked for the most part.   Hell the entire party has sucked since they lost the leadership of Lott and Newt.   Those two fine southern gentlemen kept shitake in line.   Quickly, Boehner and Mitch McConnell or Trent Lott and Newt?

Illegals.......Consumption Tax.   They will either pay their fair share or they will won't be sending as much back home and it will cause them to leave.   Most will tell you that they are here to live as cheaply as possible and send as much as they can back home.

None of what we are throwing out there right now is electable.  You have to be careful with sending someone like Paul the young, Ryan, Rubio or Hunter.....etc....etc.....etc..... They lack experience and a failed presidential run could effectively ruin them.

I know we all bash on Ron Paul, b/c it's the cool thing to do and since his foreign policy is horrid, but damned if I wouldn't make him "Sec of Treasury"

I don't disagree with you about Jeb Bush but now is not the time to run another Bush; not to put too fine a point on it but simply the name association will not appeal to anyone right now even though he's better than his brother W.  In my opinion anyway.

Consumption tax; great idea as long as it's offset by a deduction or adjustment in the income tax.  Fed-gov already gets enough of my money to waste and give away.

Even though he's a dookie I'd support Ron Paul as Secretary of the Treasury...or Fed Reserve Chairman.

Oh, I am not saying run him now.  God no.  Just saying, he is a far cry better than his brother.  Fucking W.

Consumption tax I have in my mind, is this.  You get 100% of your gross salary.  You just basically have to pay a sales tax where the local, state and fed divy it up.  No more income taxes.   (Basic gist of it)

Ron Paul would be top notch in either one of those positions if you ask me.

Some people actually think that deporting 30 million people is feasible. Have fun with that.

All newt is doing is offering a sensible soution. All of the other solutions are at both extremes and not feasible, those being full amnesty and deportation. Offering a legal path would work. Although ignorance of the law isn't an excuse, many of these immigrants don't even understand what the law is. If they are found without documentation, explain to them the law, give them a chance to do it right and if they don't want to, at that point either deport them or jail them. The biggest thing right now is to stop the bleeding at the border. If that isn't fixed, all of the other is a moot point.

How many millions did they send back after WWII? I guess it can't be done.

Yes. Kill them as they cross the border. The rest will get the idea.
Once they are across, you have to follow civil law and send them back.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Catching them and sending them back as you catch them...doable.

The flood gates have been open now for 2 + decades. Its hard to proactively "round" 20-30 million up from all 50 states, get them together and deport them. That would take a massive organization that is unprecedented. Easier to build a wall now to stop the bleeding, offer the ones who want to be here a path, and then the remaining who don't can be either jailed or go back home.

And on Ron Paul - he wouldn't be the Fed Res Chairman very long. Because he would abolish it, and rightfully so. Economically, only he and Newt get it.

And yes AUT1, I would take Newt and Trent in a heartbeat over McConnell/Boehner but I think the opposition in the 90's against Lott and Newt was mainly Dole and DeLay (a 3 time felon).

At this point, that might be the only issue worth addressing. If it ain't fixed soon, nothing else will matter.
