I would counter by saying that the landscape of both the SEC and recruiting in general have changed drastically since even 2004. I commend this staff for what they've done and their appraoch to recruiting, but I also expect it, in one sense, demand it. It's their job. They should be going after the top talent in the country each and every year and with the facilities, staff, history, support, conference etc. we should be getting our share of studs.
I haven't looked at their classes but I'll venture a guess that neither Bama nor LSU are signing many 2* guys these days either. (And spare me the Honey Badger 2* reference) And since AU just played for a MNC, I wouldn't expect them to be scouring the rough for diamonds. Here's the thing. Hear me now but believe me last Thursday, I'm not upset with signing Nero. A bad ass 290 D-lineman is always welcome. And Cassanova Chik-Filet looks to be a big, solid LB that we need. Totally happy with Holsey and all of them. I guess it's just inflated expectations on my part. When I watched Lord Saybinz' and The Hat's guys play defense this year and sit there in awe, fucking studs at EVERY position....and then I think about how we're coming out 3 of the worst defensive years in Auburn history.....I was really hoping what we did on offense this year would have been reversed..and we'd be saying that about our defensive recruiting efforts.
Not pissed at who we got....just wanted more.
