I hate that I'll only get to see the first quarter.  He looks awesome again.

God-damn...Cam takes the ball first against the Packers and shoves it down their throat.  6-7 87 yards and passing TD. Actually 2 TDS...first one was called back on a hold.

Cam is fucking the Packers up. I'm thinking his team mates are loving this. A far cry from any offense the Panthers have ever called. I would like to see a bit more Williams.

Who runs this site?  My thread was started first.  You'd think there'd be some rules around here.

In other news, here's ESPN's Fantasy Football Spin on Cam Newton:

Quote
Spin: Nope, not happening. Don't even think about it. Yes, everyone's all "feel-good" about this story today, but c'mon, let's be reasonable. Newton ravaged the Cardinals, an overrated defense. Now he faces the Packers, a way tougher squad (Week 1 result aside). Prepare for a letdown, perhaps a massive one.

He's going to throw interceptions.  All the best ones did early on.  Once he gets a good feel for how long it takes a corner to close on a pass, he'll be nearly untouchable.  I'm one of those that said he'd have to change how he plays to make it in the NFL.  No way would he make it trying to rush for 1000.  To an extent, he has.  But he's looked much better than I thought he would.  He stands tall, makes his reads, and finds the open man.  The mother fucker is good.

He may throw 25 interceptions this year.  But I bet he also has 5000 yards and 30 touchdowns.  He'll only get better.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Maybe I misheard today during the Pats game, but I swore they said Brady was the 6th player in NFL history to throw for 400+ yards in consecutive games.  Did that not make Cam the 5th to do it, and do it as a rookie in his second start?

Cam was the sixth, and Brady was the seventh.

    * Dan Fouts, San Diego Chargers, 1982
    * Dan Marino, Miami Dolphins, 1984
    * Phil Simms, New York Giants, 1985
    * Billy Volek, Tennessee Titans, 2004
    * Matt Cassel, New England Patriots, 2008
    * Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers, 2011
    * Tom Brady, New England Patriots, 2011

The NFL doesn't view the last game of one season and the first game of the next season as "consecutive."  If they did, then Drew Brees would be right above Cam for 2010-2011.

You are correct.   Cam is actually the seventh.  Or sixth depending on whose game ended first.

Phil Sims is one.  Drew Brees is one.  Billy Volek is one. Brady is one.  Cam is one.  That's five.  No idea who the other two are.

Cam also has the most yards for any rookie in his first two games.   And the only rookie QB to ever top 400 in consecutive weeks to open a season.

I'm starting to see even the most ardent haters begin to come around.  It's gone from "I hate him, he sucks, he's going to be Vince Young II in the NFL" to "I still hate him, but the fucker can ball. Can't deny it any more.  I hate him but damn he's good."

As I've said, I don't pay too close attention to NFL.  I watch it passively, except on Sun. and Mon. Nights.  I watch the Halftime shows then too.  The ESPN talking heads....they're all gushing about him.  Heard one on the radio last week on JOX during one of those daily "ESPN Minute" segments where an ESPN guy just editorializes...he flat out said "I was wrong, Cam is good, he plays with abandon, he looks like he cares unlike some such as Eli Manning....he owned the dome in Glendale last Sunday".  Said not one negative word.  Beginning to think the only haters left are those that wear hounds-tooth and crimson, or those that shill for them on a national level.   Real NFL people are blown away by him.
