How I miss him...
« on: August 28, 2011, 10:24:07 PM »
Watching the George Bush interview about 9-11 on National Geographic.

Seeing him and his humanity, humility and earnestness makes me miss him greatly.

He made mistakes, yeah.  But he made them for the right reasons I think.

Watching him now and comparing him to the pompous, pretentious, preening peacock who occupies the office now makes me wish he could return.

It's depressing how much worse off we are now.

I don't think he was as bad as he is made out to be. But I don't miss him. And when the moron in charge now is gone, I will miss him even less.

Had he stood up and told congress no, and wielded the veto stamp from time to time.  I think he would have been a lot better off.

Agree K, I started watching it last night.  I was no fan of W, but his reasoning was correct.  He did what he had to do and what he thought was right to keep lives safe and I won't fault him for it.   Compared to what we have right now, you damn straight I miss him.

If he had just cut spending, he would be hailed as greater than Reagan in 20 years. But he spent like a dimocrat. Other than that, he was the right man for the task at hand. He didn't ask for the attack, but he damn sure stood up and accepted the responsibility. I always shudder to think where we would be now if a dimocrat had been in office.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Most American Muslims are satisfied Obama backers
Tue, Aug 30 2011
By Andrew Stern

CHICAGO (Reuters) - A majority of U.S. Muslims are content with the nation's direction in contrast to many Americans and few Muslims believe there is support for Islamic extremism here, a survey released on Tuesday found.

With the 10th anniversary of the al Qaeda attacks on New York and the Pentagon approaching, the Pew Research Center found that most Muslims felt ordinary Americans were friendly or neutral toward them.

In contrast to the majority of the general public dissatisfied with the nation's direction, 56 percent of the estimated 2.75 million American Muslims said they are satisfied, the survey showed. Seven out of 10 view President Barack Obama's tenure favourably.

"On a variety of measures, Muslims in America are very content with their own lives and with the communities where they live," Pew researcher Greg Smith said in an interview.

Four out of five Muslim Americans surveyed were satisfied with the way things are going in their lives and rated their communities very positively as places to live.
