This is not an article.
However, this is a list of incidences that have tainted college football. Honestly, at this point, there is no reason to think that any school, any coach, and any player is decent. Everyone is cheating. Everyone is immoral. Everyone is breaking the laws of society and only stays out of the spotlight due to luck.
Feel free to add to this list as I will by no means catch them all.
Since the year 2000...
Alabama*
- Hit with major infractions.
- Described as one of the most egregious cheaters in sports.
- Cleaned up by hiring Nick Saban.
- Textbook gate leads some to wonder.
Auburn*
- Robbed of a national title in 2004. While many can claim the BCS "got it right," the fact remains that the SEC did not get a fair shot at the trophy. This flawed system has yet to be fixed or amended.
- "Camgate" has led many to believe Auburn is buynig football players.
- Four players arrested for robbery charges
Georgia
- Numerous arrests and an embarrassing response from their head coach with each.
- Star player selling his jersey for money. This may be a stupid rule, but it was a rule nonetheless.
- Georgia commits five NCAA violations with Ray Drew's commitment. Minor but still breaking the rules.
- The Georgia AD caught driving drunk with a young girl (not his wife) in the car with him.
Florida*
- A large number of arrests (20+) under the leadership of Urban Meyer.
- Cam Newton and "laptopgate"
Ohio State*
- Maurice Clarett claims he was paid by a car dealership
- Terrell Pryor and other star Ohio State players are caught in a scheme to gain extra benefits
- Jim Tressell, a man of "integrity," discovered to be covering up the Pryor issue
USC*
- Hit with major infractions for cheating and lying about knowledge of the cheating and still denying the cheating ever went on.
- Before the infractions hit, the coaching staff responsible for the program left town.
Oklahoma
- Star quarterback dismissed from team for engaging in "pay-without-work-because-you're-a-football-player" scheme with a car dealership
LSU*
- Self-imposes scholarship reductions after an obscene amount of illegal text messages are reported. Plus, the school was providing a condo to a player for no cost
Tennessee (Lane Kiffin)
- Lane Kiffin bolts after one year leaving an entire program in shambles
- Numerous allegations have surfaced about his tenure
- He left, even under scrutiny, to USC who was already hit with major sanctions
Texas*
- A scandal arises between AD employees (just one?) and hostesses.
Florida St
- Caught allowing players to cheat for grades
Miss St
- Rogue boosters and alumni engaging in pay-for-play scheme with Cecil Newton
South Carolina
- Steve Spurrier's wife giving freshly baked cookies to new recruits. The bastard...
*Won a national championship
So where is college football headed? Because right now, it's a horrible embarrassment.
