I don't know that depth is solved in one class.

It is if it's a bogus excuse.

As if it isn't obvious to everyone, you're trying to have a thread to point back to to say Auburn underperformed to your expectations.

It's been done.

It is if it's a bogus excuse.

you may back off of it...but are saying that depth wasn't a legitimate issue this year on defense?  I feel like you always imply it wasn't even something to factor into the problems.  Sure, it wasn't the only story on defense.  But when you are starting a true freshman (strictly because he's the only scholarship player left) and the first LB off the bench is a walk on....that is a serious depth problem.  I read somewhere else this year that Auburn was the only D-1 program with three scholarship LBs on the roster.

I know part of your stance comes in response to people that act like that was the ONLY issue on defense.  But still, it was a huge issue and one that contri uted to many of the other issues.  If the incoming freshman are really good and make a huge impact, that won't change what was a fact for the 2009 team...that we had deficiencies on defense like I've never seen since following closely since I was at Aubrun in 1993.

That old line... :taunt:

If you couldn't tell I was trolling for a brain fart with that line then you really need to work on your powers of perception.

And it's true.  The vast majority of the time, I'm merely amusing myself.

As for our record next season...we're mostly going on names (of programs) until we've really gone through who each team losses and who they have coming back and things like that.

Ultimately I think next year will look a like lot last year in that there will probably be groups of games.  There will be the "should wins", the "probable losses", and the "toss up" games.  Those categories will be proportioned differently this year, but just like last year, the toss ups will be the difference in 8 wins or more.

Yeah, this post deserves a big "duh", because everything I just wrote is the same for every team every year.  But the thing is, as we get better, the # of games in each category should shift.  Right now we're in a place of too many toss ups.  Alabama and Florida are in a place of 1 or 2 toss ups, not 4 or 5.   We win 4 of our 5 toss ups and we may get back to that level.

That sounds like a good cop out to me when you get caught in the paradigm of your own argument.  By the way - this is one of those 90% in which I am just "messin around".... :poke:
