Prowler seems to think the offense being tired may be an issue, and thats what I responded to. Florida's offense isn't really a HUNH type offense. You see them huddle plenty. You don't see them get down ready and snap the ball as soon as its placed. So I don't see why comparing that to AU's offense means anything. Furthermore, Meyer's offense has proven to its detractors that it will in fact work. Malzahn's? Not so much. Can it work? Yes. Can it work in the SEC? I really don't think so. I just don't think a 6'4 300 lb DL in the Big 12 equals the same thing in the SEC.
The only similarity with the two offenses I was making is that people said the same thing about Meyers offense....that it wouldn't work (not that the offense is similar in any way, but saying that it wouldn't work in the SEC).
Mississippi State and Tennessee would be bad examples for your case....they suffered 1,048 yards total.
Sure we lost to Kentucky, Arkansas, and LSU, but it wasn't stellar defensive play that stopped us overall. It was bad decisions, turnovers, sloppy play, penalties and most of all....2008 Chris Todd subbed in for 2009 Chris Todd.
I didn't see our o-line exhausted in the first quarter of all those games and I didn't see 300 lb d-lineman running 4.3 40's into the backfield to break up otherwise excellent plays. I saw an offensive group that lost confidence, focus, and their wills. Add to that some interesting play calling sometimes and it has just been ugly. But I don't think it's because Arkansas and Kentucky have defensive lines far superior to your average Big 12 defensive line.
