If you think LSU is a better team than UT, then you sir, are in fact an idiot. The only reason LSU is where they are is due to a high pre-season ranking. I can't figure out how the fuck that happened in the first place. But, in any event, they are there, and until they lose the pollsters can't justify dropping them.

If you want to climb the polls, you beat the higher ranked teams.

Beating LSU would do more to boost our poll standing than beating Tennessee.

You remain an idiot.  Respect?  From who?  The only people that matter are the people with votes.

As odd as it sounds, I think AU would gain more respect by beating an unranked UT team than LSU. I know LSU is highly ranked, and all of this, but lets be serious here. Last year's LSU team was teh suck. This year's team isn't any better. I mean, having to make a goalline stand against MSU and winning only because of a horrible play call by MSU? You wanna talk about teams that don't deserve to be ranked as highly as they are, LSU is squarely in that discussion. UT has a phuking stout defense. Not all that strong on offense, but can't argue with that defense. If they had an offense, they would have beat UF. Plain and simple. Maybe I'm crazy, but from a respect standpoint, I think a win against UT is better than a win against an overranked waiting to be exposed LSU team.

This makes some sense....which is why it makes no sense....we're talking about polls, not reality.

Our life in the polls could be tough if we never get a chance for a signature win.  If LSU loses at Georgia and to Florida, then beating them won't matter much.  By the time we get to Ole Miss, they will likely have at least two losses, possibly three if they lose to Arkansas (who knows?).  Georgia gets LSU, Florida, and Tennessee before we play them

Fact is, we just have to keep winning (duh).  The reality is that the SEC West suddenly looks very winnable, and I don't see any reason why we don't have as good a chance as anyone else.  Auburn and Alabama are honestly the only teams in the West that look any better than the others.

AU hasn't played anybody yet and should be ranked, but Miami didn't deserve any love for beating two ranked teams?
"Any" love, or shooting up from unranked to 9th in two weeks?

There's a double standard here, but it isn't the one you're suggesting.

and you've played one ranked team and deserve to be #3?  To be quite honest I don't really care where we are ranked,  IMO the rankings only matter if you are going to make it to the MNC and we don't have the depth for that yet.  However, I still think that Auburn should be ranked, there are a ton of teams that haven't played anyone and are still ranked.  It just proves to me what a joke it is.
I disagree.

A third of the way through the fucking season and not even showing up is complete and utter bullshit.

Third in the country total offense, tied with Florida for first in the SEC?

Blowing out a LaTech team where most of the "experts" said to take them over us because we not only couldn't cover the 10 point (or something like that) spread, but could possibly lose the game.

Blowing MSU's asshole out 49-24. The same team that was literally inches away from beating the then #7, now #4 team in the nation, and by all rationality should have.

Week three, again, many "experts" were advising betting against us and the three point spread. West Virginia was to be our first "true test". Shaky first quarter, but had no problems putting them well away after that.

Now, I'll be the first to admit, this weekend was a sloppy win. Playing our backups is no good excuse, but it's no secret our depth is pathetic. Better to put the scrubs in a game with no real chance of losing than grind our starters out unnecessarily so we HAVE to play their backups down the line. In the end, I'll settle for a sloppy game where we put 54 points on the board, as long as it's not indicative of a trend. Watching the highlights of the game on ESPN, nothing but good things were being said (not that I necessarily agree).

OVER HALF of the Top 25 in each poll has a loss. Fourteen in the USA Today and thirteen in the AP.

Every 4-0 team in the SEC deserves to at least be ranked. And guess what...the other three are...in the Top 4...

We are the third best team in the SEC right now. We should be ranked. LSU, Ole Miss, & Georgia should be behind us.

Which leads me to more directly respond to the post I quoted from Brian.

I think we are the better team than every single team on our schedule, besides bammer. And I don't think they're unbeatable, by any means.

So help me God, if we take the SEC and become the first SEC champion to not get a shot (and win), since...ourselves...I will go fucking Taxi Driver on the AP, USA Today, ESPN, the BCS...everyone's going down...

Good post Chad.

If we go undefeated, we will play for a national championship. That means we beat UA and UF and would be only 1 of 2 undefeated teams...with maybe Texas being the other. There would be no one left...besides Boise St...and we would jump them...no doubt...

This is irritating...

2007, Alabama starts the year unranked.  After a 3-0 start, with wins over Vanderbilt, Western Carolina, and Arkansas, they debut in the AP poll at #16.

I guess Arkansas being a ranked team has something to do with it.  But I think it was due more to Birmingham-style Saban ass licking by the media.

I think some voters don't want to admit they were wrong.  Football coaches and media guys are stubborn.  I believe Tim Brando summed it up when he said "Auburn has become the punchline in college football."

I'll admit, Gene Chizik was an odd hire.  It was handled terribly by our athletic department.  BUT.  Chizik has turned our program around.  Our offense is clicking, and despite a few mishaps on defense, we've made the plays to win the games.

No wants to admit that last part.  Most people thought we were going to be battling Mississippi St for last place in the SEC.  Well, we're one of four SEC teams that's 4-0.  I think that's enough to be at least #25 in the country.

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall said, "Guys don't mind hitting Michael Vick in the open field, but when you see Cam, you have to think about how you're going to tackle him. He's like a big tight end coming at you."
