Free cellphones

What the fuck?

If this has already been posted, I apologize, but the very concept of giving away free phones to the "poor" offends me on a number of levels.

Owning a cell phone is not a "right" any more than owning a car, a television, an mp3 player or a PS3 is.  Why should the government be in the business of providing anyone a cellphone?

I have to work to pay for mine -- damn near $300 a month by the time you count in everything.  There's no excuse for giving some non-working fuck a free one.

Our priorities aren't in order.  My students act like they can't live without with their cell phones.  It's frustrating but sometimes amusing to explain to them how there are so many other important parts of life.  Maybe I need to go to to the state board and give them the same lecture.

You don't need a cell phone, car, laptop, or big screen TV to wash the floors of a local company.  This reminds me of some of the people living in FEMA trailers in New Orleans.  I went back a few months ago, and those "poor" victims who weren't given enough money from the evil George Bush are driving Escalades and Mercedes-Benz vehicles.  They've got big screen TVs and the best clothes.

Poor people don't need cell phones or laptops.  They need seminars and guidance to keep them from making the same mistakes.

This is great! It will make it so much easier for complete losers to hook up with their women and make more babies.

we don't even give women in battered womens shelters this sort of thing. all they get is a cell phone that can only call 911. now, i would be fine with doing something like that with the poor. 911 is a very essential thing. but just handing out cell phones for whatever?

We might as well get ready for more of these shitty give-away programs on a Federal level anyway.  With the Democrats socialists in charge; they've never seen a program like this that they don't like.
