AC/DC Black Ice

Yep. It rules.

Nothing fancy. It sounds just like every other AC/DC record, which is of course a good thing.

AC/DC is one of the few bands that has basically never changed their sound and the new stuff still sounds fresh.

I give it two thumbs up!

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Depends on what kind you like.  I like them both a lot.  Don't know that one is better than the other because they are really two different sounds.  If you made me choose though I would go with "Black Ice".

This should come with the disclaimer that Sani's favorite Sirius station is AC/DC radio.

You can keep a wooden stake in your trunk
On the off-chance that the fairy tales ain't bunk
And Imma keep a bottle of that funk
To get motel parking lot, balcony crunk.

They're both definitely great albums, but as Howie said, you have to measure them with a different scale.

Death Magnetic rocks your face and balls off. At worst, it's Metallica's most rocking album in over 20 years. At best, it might possibly be their most rocking to date. It sounds like Master Of Puppets + Rick Ruben's Midas Touch. Add in the benefit of modern recording technology and it's just a better sounding record in my opinion.

Black Ice sounds exactly like every other AC/DC album they've ever done. From the first record they've basically sounded exactly the same, with the exception of Bon being replaced at vocals. Bad ass riffs, backed by steady paced rock. This album could have just as easily come out in 1976 and High Voltage could come out today, and one wouldn't sound stylistically different from the other. In my opinion, this is refreshing since most bands get old and sober and significantly decline their rockage. If it ain't broke, don't fix it type of thing.

That's the kinda of feedback I was looking for.     Metallica it is.

AC/DC and ZZ Top are perfect examples of bands that have remained true to what they're good at...what made them popular in the first place.  ZZ Top's lead guitar (Gibbons?) once said it's amazing they've made it this far since they only know 3 chords.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

Yep, great album. Sounds just like they should. I can't compare it to the new Metallica album because I have not heard any of it yet. I have never really been a Metallica guy though. I like some of their music, but I have never owned any of their albums except for S&M.

Speaking of ZZ Top, have any of you with HD caught their concert that has been playing on the Music HD channel (I think the channel is called something else now)? Sounds awesome in DD 5.1.
