A slow death

No, this isn't about Gus Malzahn's career and its impact on the Auburn football program.

It's just one of those little noticed/noted things that indicate a slow and steady march to the death of a different medium.

The much-maligned al.com (at least maligned by me) and its affiliated media partners quietly sent a bunch more people packing.  For those of you who don't know, al.com is actually owned and run by a New York agency which partially explains its relentlessly liberal drumbeat.  All of the media groups (masslive, nj.com, nola.com, oregonlive among them) are struggling.

Next year the organization plans to unveil a metered formula in some of its properties.  Essentially you'd have to pay on a per-use basis to view articles.  Company executives said it is important for readers to "support their journalistic efforts."

I get that the revenue model is broken.  But if you ask me to PAY for the shit that al.com spews?  I'll never look at it again.  They start charging for articles and the site will die.  Honestly?  If John Archibald, Kyle Whittmire, JD Crowe and a bunch of the other liberal smarmtards from al.com end up working at Wal Mart (which is really about all they're qualified to do) I wouldn't be sad.
